The Sun: City are in talks to build their own power station near the Etihad Campus. Could give locals cheaper energy. Also talk of a hotel.

Any truth or just Sun BS?

We did explore a wind powered generator but was canned on safety grounds, there is also talk that there is insufficient powere available on the site and this may be delaying further ground expansion. Then there is the bridge sponsor being an energy company so I wouldn't dismiss the story entirely

Didn't tolmie recent say that city have been in negotiations with an Irish power firm? Could be something in this.

Taking shape nicely. Very impressed with what I could see of it yesterday. JRB's pics are fantastic (keep them coming, pretty please), but you don't get an idea of the true scale of the job until you're standing on Ashton New Road (er; the pavement, not the actual roadway!) taking in just how "massive" it really is.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Turned up yesterday to find that my aisle seat in block 104 of East stand lower has had the concrete step extended underneath it.
I was later told by a steward that every aisle seat in that block was being removed to accommodate the 3 new rows going in at the front, has anyone had any correspondence off city to back this up as I have heard nothing.
Been a season ticket holder for 37 years and sat in that seat since moving from Maine Rd, sit with a group of mates so a bit pissed off to find out I'm being moved.
Anyone have a contact to who I should email at city ?

Development: Manchester City have invested heavily in their off-field facilities
Manchester City are already a footballing super-power on the pitch - now they could be about to build their own power station off it.

The Premier League holders are in discussions to construct a sub-station nearby their state-of-the-art Etihad Campus training ground.

The 200-acre site, which opened last year , uses so much energy that City have installed an energy centre.

Council bosses are now in talks with the club as they continue developments to the East Manchester site.

A source told the Sun on Sunday: "The club expects to use a lot of power and the council does not want it draining the local supply.

"And it looks like the locals might get some cheaper energy too, so everyone's a winner.

"The new site will be huge and could even include a hotel."

David Silva celebrates with his team mates after scoring the fourth goal for Manchester City.
