Will this end not be complete in time for the rugby world cup?

surely they wouldn't have picked the Etihad to be a host stadium knowing there was going to be works going on around the ground!!

We only host one match and that is on the 10th October iirc.

There's only one game played outside Twickenham, England v Uraguay, its sold out already with a capacity of 53000.

If I remember rightly there was a questionnaire with 3 options that was handed out when the portocabin exhibition for the expansion was open in city square.

Thank you.

If that was the only place the survey was provided it says a lot in my opinion. Always wanted to check out the plans inside the portacabin but always arrived too late from the pub and found it shut.

Obviously I am not criticising everyone who doesn't go pub before match and prefers the get their early, etc. But, as has been discussed countless times on here, the likes of drink helps people sing and generate atmosphere.

I cannot understand why anyone - let alone a majority - would want the aways fans section to remain where it is.

It's remaining where it is, but being halved in size. Obviously the rest of the away seats will be located in Level 3.

Means away fans are spread out - so less noisy, but still near enough to the vocal City fans to encourage an atmosphere.

Pretty much everyone in the singing areas wanted them to stay there.
I'm in a singing section and I didn't want them to stay where they are, and I can't recall anyone I've spoken to did either.

Been to the stadium this morning

Stopped to have a look at the building works, they were going at a cracking pace, no one sat around!
Cement being moved, people dangling from platforms, three quarters of the glass/cladding in place

Expect our first 3 or 4 fixtures to be away next season. The close season was always the pinch point for the construction programme. Interface of the pitch access required to remove the roof and the pitch treatment required.

I'd be very surprised if the club requested the first 3 or 4 games to be away. I'd expect work to continue seven days a week to get the work done and maybe just have the first 2 games away.

Hope so!

The club has asked just for the first Premier League game on the weekend of August 8th\9th 2015 to be an away fixture.

So the weekend of the 15th\16th August 2015 will be the first home Premier League game and I think the club want the South Stand extension in use from that point onwards (maybe with a friendly held before that for test purposes i.e. as happened when the Etihad first opened i.e. a friendly v Barcelona in summer 2003 (which we won 2-1 - heady days when we could beat Barcelona !)).

Did you have a shirt and tie hi viz and hard hat on with a clipboard by any chance? Maybe they thought you were from head office as there are usually a few glued to their phones in the parking areas when I've been past.

What's the plan for protecting the pitch from lifting equipment regarding old roof removal? Is there a different plan to when we had concerts and had to re-lay the pitch as a result or do they reckon it will be okay due to improved sub-structure or maybe not having the weight on a particular spot for too long?

Does an expanded stand need a full safety cert like a new stadium as if it does presumably we will need a test event with reduced capacity, so we will need a "home" fixture (friendly or the kids/womans team) before we can play any league games at home anyway?

Also I've heard the pitch side work has a very tight schedule this summer and if this is the case can only hope it doesn't rain as Lancs CC had trouble this season with part of the pitch as they had machinery on the outfield to finish a new stand and because the weather wasn't great while they were working and didn't have time to sort it properly afterwards it wrecked that part of the outfield and any rain would congregrate and not drain on the affected area. I'm sure we will have considered bad weather but if something like this happens to us I wonder what we'd do? Presumably there has to be a plan B for worst case scenarios? Play at the CFA, go Barnsley, or just give the keepers snorkel and flippers?
