Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Good to hear. Not sure why quite a few on here are pulling their hair out at the prospect of playing two away on the bounce at the start of the season. It makes sense to do so, even if the works are planning to be completed right before the start of the season - that way any delay can be easily handled, without having to re-arrange fixtures once they've already been announced.

Excited about the North stand news. I really thought they were going to delay it by a year (or possibly more) after the inevitable slow ST uptake (since all the cheap seats have already vanished and there's still another 6,000 on the waiting list, the majority of which I'd argue were doing so on the premise of cheap tickets.
What evidence have you for a slow ST uptake?

That's very interesting. I am sure you will keep us informed. Apologies if I have missed something, but I thought there were issues with power holding back the North Stand redevelopment? Have they been resolved?
Think that was delaying the collar sight development not the North stand

Good point about the power. The issue there is that there is not enough power in the area to satisfy the collar site plans. People under estimate the enabling work package which involves diverting the services which run around the perimeter of the North stand. These will need moving to buying the area between the city square stage and the souvenir shop.

I genuinetly believe this will start in October with actual stadium stand building starting towards the end of next season.

Question. I had seen one or two mentions and so I want to ask if there will be a renovation or redesign of the dug out section .i.e where the players sit?

No one has the answer to my question. Oh well, I will have to wait until the start of the season before I know I guess but it will be interesting to see the renovations and changes made inside the stadium apart from the additional rows around the stands and of course the body of the work, which is the stadium extension.

Why would there need to be redesign of that area ? nothing is changing on that side of the pitch, and the pitch is remaining as it is (not digging down).

I genuinely believe this will start in October with actual stadium stand building starting towards the end of next season.

Extrapolating from bits and pieces of stuff i've read and heard I think we are looking at

1. North Stand work to commence post RWC

2. At some point THIS season we will hear more about the Collar site.

3. A couple of years of public consultations will take place concerning the massive collar site plans whilst -

4. The ASDA site will be/has been bought and will be as part of the plans to solve the power issues.

By 2018 the Collar site will have been signed off, power issues solved and ground broken.

Or perhaps not?

Hi fbloke.

As I recall this was your vision for the future and virtually everything you predicted has happened.
Why not have a go at finishing off the dream so that we can either scoff (as many unbelievers did) or marvel at your ability to see into the future ?

If only we could somehow collectively harness the bitterness of all the undercover rags on the transfer forum during the close season, and convert it into energy, the club's power situation would be resolved at the drop of a hat.
