Taking us out of the equation are there many academies who have produced many top class players? I can only really think of Southampton.Maybe we should have gone to their main men and paid them whatever it took for them to come here!

Even when we were not very good our famed academy only really produced Shaun Wright Phillips and Barton who made it in the premier league.Possibly you could add Joe and Micah to that.As average as we were the rest weren't even up to that level.

One thing is it will attract all the top talent it is so good,if they actually see some making the breakthrough it will tempt even more.
You need to go back another decade at city to lake.bright well.Redmond, molden, hinchcliffe.etc
IMHO the finest academy taking everything into account has got to be Crewe under Dario .
Must have produced at least 6 full international s and a dozen good prem players.

I remember that group indeed i was at Maine Road when we beat the rags to win the youth cup. Aside from Hinchcliffe the rest faded away,Lakey would have made it to the very top if not for his injury.Yes Crewe had a great academy looking back.
Haven't you forgotten David White?

Everton have had a decent set of players come through in the last ten years with Rooney, Baines, Osman, Rodwell, Barkley to name but a few.

They are not all top class but they have produced consistent Premier League quality players.

Look out for Luke Garbutt and Brendan Galloway in the next few years, those two have good futures in my opinion.

The first task for our academy is to produce consistent top level quality, if we are producing players that on the majority end up playing Championship level football or lower we will have failed.

We cannot expect to produce world class consistently but if we can produce one or two top level talents over two age groups we will have done well in my opinion.

Not so long ago it was like this. I have quite a few pictures from when it was just a wasteland, I will upload when I can.

That would be the Baines they signed from Wigan then???????????/

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

I think the only criticism that can be made now is the quality of our scouting team.
I have no doubts they are already world class but for the purposes of Mr Druckers argument maybe we should consider this.

The facilities are second to none and if we dont bring quality through the academy (yet Everton continue to do so) then maybe Mr Druckers points may have some validity.

Noticed on the video that Brian Marwood told Osborne that the Academy stadium had 7k seats and room for 2k standing... Can that be correct? 2k standing room I mean.
