Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

I wonder what Duckets thoughts will be when the rags go and spend a zillion quid on new defenders as the ones they have are a bag of shite ? Will he question it as it will be pushing back their academy players and blocking their route to the first team ?? Lets have it fucking right, the only reason they have blooded any academy players is because they have no fit defenders and had too out of desperation. Lets see how many get a debut next season when the cheque books gets emptied again !! And as for our academy not producing any decent talent over the years, do you think that might just be the reason we have just built CFA to put that right ?? Hacks, cockroaches and rats who can't and won't open their eyes to the new order in football !!

Noticed on the video that Brian Marwood told Osborne that the Academy stadium had 7k seats and room for 2k standing... Can that be correct? 2k standing room I mean.

Yup. Behind one of the goals you can see terracing.

From the City Academy Launch Video

You need to go back another decade at city to lake.bright well.Redmond, molden, hinchcliffe.etc
IMHO the finest academy taking everything into account has got to be Crewe under Dario .
Must have produced at least 6 full international s and a dozen good prem players.

I remember that group indeed i was at Maine Road when we beat the rags to win the youth cup. Aside from Hinchcliffe the rest faded away,Lakey would have made it to the very top if not for his injury.Yes Crewe had a great academy looking back.
Thinking about Crewe
Jones.platt.Thomas.Ashton. england
Lennon .Ireland
Savage.wales
Collins .Woodward varney.Powell Westwood hulse maynard all prem players
Just off the top of my head
Just

Exactly.

Not one of them apart from Platt, anywhere near good enough to play for a top 6 Premier League team today. You can look through most club's who have an half dcent acedemy & their record & will be as good or better. They get overrated because they are a small club but average players are average players.

City: Lake Redmond Hinchcliffe White Moulden Beckford Beresford Brightwell Hughes, That's better than Crewe's whole history without even looking any further. But again, only about 3 of those would get in City's squad now. Before that: Bowles Corrigan Doyle Donachie Oakes Young Pardoe Bowyer Towers Carrodus Power Owen Barnes.

Utd also produced quality players.

It went to shit, in the whole country, which is why clubs like Crewe are noted as having great academies, because everyone was producing 2nd rate shite, headless chickens who were not fit to lace the boots of the players from earlier generations.

The whole academysystem has been a fucking disaster, right through the country. City & Chelsea are the clubs who get the most shit about spending money, but will probably end up with the best academy players & drag the rest from the dark ages.
