Conn just comes across as an ungrateful ****. Yes you've just given £20m, but you have loads of money, give more! Like a spoilt child at christmas.

I don't read it that conn is disrespecting or attacking sheik Mansour's investment...

...he's attacking the fact that Osborne is hanging off the coattails of this development. ..Osborne suggested he was building a powerhouse in the north east. ...conn is highlighting that it's Sheik Mansour who is the powerhouse....and not the government as it's continuously introducing cuts. ..

It was unnecessary to juxtapose the £20m community investment with the £38m spent on Aguero. It felt like a cheap shot.

He also emphasised that ONLY 10% of a commercial development had been set aside for what is essentially a charitable purpose.

Interestingly, the 10% is around the figure that is generally given in Zakat, the charitable sum that has to be given from one's wealth as one of the five pillars of Islam. However, I wouldn't bother Conn with such concepts as they would obviously be way beyond his understanding.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

I suppose it is difficult for a paper like the Guardian to 100% commit to the funding source without some sort of sop to its readership base.

Perhaps it would have been a step too far politically for Mr Conn to suggest that the contribution made by City is a welcome step in these hard times for local funding and maybe that other owners who are currently spending far more than ADUG (on players) ought to do the same within their own geographical areas.

Certainly a theme that the Glazers and USA owners generally would squirm about.

Slagging off the Aguero transfer? Players of his calibre raises the profile of this club. Having a successful football club in Manchester (and them lot over the border in Trafford) brings people into the city on match days and boosts the local economy.

Not happy with Osbourne hanging around the opening though, the CFA was not built with any government money. Shows the failings of the conservatives as it takes Abu Dhabi money to regenerate parts of Manchester and not from the government coffers.

I wonder what percentage of the Guardians spending went to charitable causes?

Good point but unfortunately The Guardian is in the media business for one reason and that is profit.
It has gravitated to a customer base that buys the views they want to hear.

To practice what it peaches is alien to any media business.

Bigger picture mate - not many clubs in the world get the Chancellor to open their training field.

While it looked like Osbourne was piggy-backing, with regards to spending money on regenerating East Manchester I'm pretty sure it would've been the same if a Labour government was currently running the country at the moment mate.

Hate to give the c**ts traffic but link?

It's the main article on the football section however the highlights are:

Conrad Poohs, Manchester, United Kingdom, moments ago
All built with the massive eye popping profits City make.....Oh I forgot.

Dr Who, Manchester, United Kingdom, moments ago
Does look nice but if you owners with unlimited money, it's not that big of a deal after you see the engineering in UAE. Had it been done by the clubs own profits then that would be a achievement.

jtb, home, United Kingdom, moments ago
haha Still can't fill their stadium with supporters though...

The Red Baron, Manchester, United Kingdom, 19 minutes ago
You can tell Mr sugardaddy is a die hard fan of little citeh by the fact that he never turns up at the ground, just like the rest of the berties.

Love it. Small time c**ts who fill their empty lives by attaching themselves to what was once but no more, guaranteed success as a way of making themelves feel better and important are having the rug pulled from under them lol.

Normally id show some compassion but to these rag c**ts.....never.

Hope every single second of what is about to happen hurts like fuck, c**ts!

They're right you know. The owners of our club should be ashamed of themselves and learn from theirs and invest all the earnings and profits earned from the club back into it and also a small part of their own money so that the club can grow bigger and better every year.

Oh Wait!

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

That article is one of the worst I have ever read in terms of finding unnecessary bias. The downfall of that area of Manchester was a long long process and the council spending the money on the stadium was not a case of here is £x's choose how to spend it. It was their money specifically for the stadium and other sporting venues which will have brought in a lot of money over the years through major sporting events, particularly the velodrome.

Our owners, have done an amazing job. They infrastructure goes way beyond simply football and the housing that will come with it will introduce even more people and investment to the area. To slate or criticise is ludicrous.
