Apparently the Take That series of concerts generated more Bar/Food profit than the whole of the football season. AC/DC, Coldplay and Stone Roses would expect the pumps to be drunk dry and us to make even more profit. Looks like we're on the regular summer venue circuit now.

Not surprised Take That made a fortune. People underestimate the contibution female obesity makes to our ecomomy.

Fat **** dadrockers & munchified scallys should make us a fortune in the summer, then we just need a fleet of tankers full of carrot & coriander soup & a boatload of tapas & rocket salad for all the speccy cunts at the Coldplay gigs. Sorted.

Gary barlow eating all our burgers the fat tax dodging ****

Regarding the drinks sold don't we delegate them to other companies so we see little of the profit from things like this?

Manchester Storm won't be looking for a new home anytime soon. They are owned by the owners of Silverblades who operate the ice rink in Altrincham. That rink will be refurbished as part of the impending Altair project. I'm led to believe it will get a new roof and reconfiguration but the true plans have yet to be completely revealed. Unless Silverblades were to take ownership of a new venue in East Manchester, there is no chance that Storm would be based there.

The other Manchester Ice Hockey Team, Manchester Phoenix, are looking for a new home. They play at a lower level to the Storm and are currently playing out of Deeside after a conflict with Silverblades. They are struggling badly with cashflow and i doubt they will make the end of the season never mind get back to Manchester in a new building.

A 3-4000 seater multi-configuration venue would be great for the campus but it would need a permanent tenant to work i.e an Ice Hockey or Basketball team to guarantee a weekly income. Smaller concerts could be put on there too but you'd be in direct competition with the Apollo for those

I wonder if Soriano fancies a multi-sport set up like they had at Barcelona, who've got Ice hockey, Basketball, Handball and rugby teams as well as the football.

Can't say i'd be that bothered either way, but might be a nice tie in to the idea of making the campus a national centre for sport.

I have no basis for this other than the recent ice rink talk either.

I still think City are missing a trick not having those fosters bottle bins in the additional space behind the south stand...they would make an absolute killing...it's currently just an empty space...what's the point?!
Yeah that huge empty space needs something in there to help with the queues elsewhere. Those multipump systems for beer you see at festivals are pretty good.

They are all such niche sports in this area and country, rugby aside, that they just wouldn't be money making schemes.

Same is true for Barcelona though - they really don't have a big market for rugby union, or league, or ice hockey - I'd say manchester would beat them on all three fronts there.

I'm not entirely sure why they do it, but they're just semi-pro or amateur teams who go under the Barca banner, I doubt they'd cost or make any money at all.

Yeah that's true although i think Basketball has grown massively over there in recent years. I'm not sure it is a route we'll go down but it is definitely an idea. A multi purpose venue on the campus would be great

Wolfie is spot on with Manchester Storm and Phoenix, when the storm originally folded the fans tried to carry them on, think they played one season at the Nynex (yes I still call it the Nynex!) under fan ownership before it folded completely. They then formed the Phoenix (from the flames) but based at Altincham and not in the Elite league.

They have fallen out with Silverblades as mentioned, so decided they would relocate to Manchester in a new rink, Deeside was supposed to be only temporary but as mentioned they are really struggling for money.

Silverblades owned the Storm copyright so relaunched them this season, not sure how I feel about it being a fan of the original Storm (Boom Boom Boom let me hear you say Jago!) as the Phoenix I suppose come from the original Storm.

If there will be an ice rink at the Campus I agree I don't see the current Storm playing there, unless Altrincham is demolished and Silverblades relocate. Phoenix may not see the season out, so maybe some rich owner of a football club could stump up some cash for a new stadium for them and maybe a name change.

I just can't see any sports "team" playing competetive sport at the campus that are not known as "Manchester City", so either a rebrand of an existing outfit, or something new. If he have an arena on campus it would make sense to have ice hokey and basketball anchor tenants.

Always thought this might be the long term plan for 'sportcity' (after all the British Cycling and Team sky are based in the area...and the National BMX arena...and National Taikwondo).
Where this sits within the co!lar site is anyone's guess...but we have the luxury of dreaming up anything these days.
