I still think City are missing a trick not having those fosters bottle bins in the additional space behind the south stand...they would make an absolute killing...it's currently just an empty space...what's the point?!
Is that not in view of the pitch? If so they can't serve alcohol there

Apparently the Take That series of concerts generated more Bar/Food profit than the whole of the football season. AC/DC, Coldplay and Stone Roses would expect the pumps to be drunk dry and us to make even more profit. Looks like we're on the regular summer venue circuit now.
They loved having Take That there as could sell out night after night with no downtime in terms of changing stage set up, guess there is no other band that can sell out multiple nights like that

Always thought this might be the long term plan for 'sportcity' (after all the British Cycling and Team sky are based in the area...and the National BMX arena...and National Taikwondo).
Where this sits within the co!lar site is anyone's guess...but we have the luxury of dreaming up anything these days.

Just to put the potential and recent growth of Manchester (and the Greater surrounding areas) into some kind of context, its GDP is greater than Scotland.

Any chance you could post up your source on info for the gdp figures you've just put up.you may well be right but there must have been a massive change in the figures in recent years for this to be the case.

It's not like we need the money, we've been back in black for quite some time now.

Was talking about Manchester Storm looking for a city central venue just last night - any idea where the sport city rumours came from?

As long as FFP is around we need the cash

I can't see how they can put the screens in the new corners at the moment, the way the structure is I just can't see how they can do it, the pillars go out and above the screens would have to be hung rather than tied to the ground and I Can't see that happening. But I'm not an engineer so what the hell do I know.

Checked the structure out Saturday and there are, what appear to be, landings (flat spots) on the beams I guess these are for additional horizontal members that the screen will be mounted on

I'll have to check that out next time around that area

I was pretty surprised to hear that Salford Quay's alone is starting to outstrip (GDP wise) many smaller UK cities.
Mediacity has just announced a huge expansion today as well...
