the reports seem to suggest they`ll fill it, i call bullshit, unless of course for the teams fighting for the top 3 bring 15,000 fans with them.

the first home game will probably attract a bigger crowd because of the novelty factor
There are 9million people in London Met area and no real big clubs in the surrounding counties of Kent Surrey Essex etc. (WH have a large supporter base in Essex) so you could bump that uk to 13m if not more living in and around and within easy commuting distance of London. There's only 6m people in the whole of the North West. All the big London clubs will have giant supports, West Ham being fourth biggest club will have a huge fanbase

Don't we have to hold back eight thousand seats for match day sales and away fans? If so, how can they have sold that many tickets, assuming capacity is well below 60,000 at the moment?
The rules state that clubs should promote the availability of match tickets by reserving a reasonable proportion (at least 5 per cent.) of them for sale to non-season ticket holders and that those clubs with a capacity in excess of 30,000 must provide seating of up to, 3,000 away supporters.

They can do both with 52,000 season ticket holders. They sold out of season tickets way back, and as others have commented they benefit from the London effect of massive population and higher than average disposable income. Any of the London clubs could, and probably will have in time, much bigger stadia.

Capacity has been increased from 54,000 to 60,000 to cope with demand. They're planning to expand up to 67,000 because they also have a waiting list for season tickets.

No I think it's for family sections sections for some of the games. I got the info off some Hammers so I don't know the full facts.

Adult season cards start at £289 and they've sone well to shift so many.

Had a look on the West Ham OS,they reckon they've sold season tickets out now, says over 50k.

the season tickets were sold for the first two seasons, a friend of mine paid 500 quid and that definately covers the first two seasons, so no wonder they sold out

Interestingly they've not traditionally averaged over 30k until the last few seasons. Their attendance record is only 42k. The cheap prices help and it'll be interesting to see if they can sustain the level over the next 5-10 seasons. If they don't progress in that time then many will be less motivated. Very similar to how things went for us after the first few seasons at the Eithad.
