I suspect that's why it's on the South side of the stadium, it's facing the carpark so plenty of footfall and staff about.

At least we'll have a great vantage point when construction eventually starts on the leisure destination. :-)

If they ever expanded the East Side, would there be that much room on that land bar maybe a hotel?

The scale of it is something to behold. I went past it an hour or so ago on the train coming into Piccadilly and it dwarfs the CB and East Stand. It will look incredible when the other end is done.

Question for those who know about this type of construction work;

I've noticed numerous times the blue 'canti deck' three quarters of the way up the stand. 'Canti' is obviously an abbreviation for cantilever as the thing half sticks out of the stand into mid air . However, it doesn't seem to have moved for ages so I was wondering if anyone knows what it is actually for and why it doesn't move to other areas to do the job its designed for?

You'd certainly lose a hell of a lot of it with any expansion to that stand. Depends on what exactly will be provided and how much of a footprint it requires! Anyone know anything more as to what is proposed yet?

From some of the proposed ideas (not necessarily from the club), the spirals would stop it coming out at ground level any more than it is now. In this one it shows the top of the stand seemingly coming out over the top of the spirals. (click to expand)

Perhaps waiting on an 'anchor' leisure partner...maybe one has been sourced?

Thanks again jrb for those awesome photo's showing the final pieces of the South Stand being put together, its been brilliant how quickly its all come together with the Campus and now the Stadium, I know that there is a certain word that is somewhat frowned upon being used on here but I am going say it, just how massive is this development of ours is, I cant wait to see the North End done as well, and we are going to have a fantastic stadium, living here in Oz I'm very envious of you guys and girls who get to see it up close, but maybe one day I might be able to see it firsthand.............

Passed this morning,the S/W corner piece that was lifted yesterday is in a fixed position,the bits and bobs for the S/E corner was being unloaded.First time in months since I walked pass,Looks awesome!

You'd imagine they would consider two options, one to re-do the entire third tier to make it steeper and increase capacity with more football stadium like use of space, or secondly simply build further up and out and add rows that way. Either way you'd imagine the designs to be the same as the North and South stand with a roof angled towards the pitch, so construction would take a similar method to that we see on the South stand but on a larger scale. I just can't see how you could support a new roof and increased third tier on the side stands without some beams to retain it, and they'd surely come out beyond the spirals. It could be that they only come out slightly beyond it and that's in the area used by people around the ground anyway so wouldn't impact too badly on the leisure destination!

It will be great for the league having City, Arsenal, Rags, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton and West Ham all having 55K-60K+ capacity stadiums by 2020.
