The source who told me the 25/30 year design life of the corners is the person who probably understands the roof structure of the stadium better than anyone. And also the person who understands how we are going to eventually do the east and west stands best.

Also we are getting two new huge drainage pipes in the external corners - like the one near the ticket office.

Is there any plans for the exterior worsley? New banners, screens etc?
 
I will ask mate! The other thing I know is that the collar site will"blow our minds - that is a quote. Also the club and council want a much improved external works but this is on hold until we do the North and move city square etc.

I cannot wait to see if we can fill 55k most games next season. Filling the stadium for both expansions will be key to us having a stadium with an 80k capacity in 10 years.
 
Some of the original concept renderings showed the ability for the stadium to be re-branded for events etc. Looking at the recent photos, are the horizontal protruding ridges above/below the glass sections (and along the cladding also) anything to do with this? It looks as though they may be attachment points for something?

Any rough time scales for East and West stands - I think someone may have been Tolmie - speculated that the East stand extension might be tied to the Collar sight development?
 
That's makes sense actually - as the person in question speculated a hotel linked to the east stand as part of it.

I think he's referring to the East & CB stands although I can't recall if anyone has ever quoted additional seat numbers for them.

No, but I've seen capacity of 62000 mentioned with both ends done and 79- 81000 with the sides done. I presume that includes filling the corners in as well.

well i may be well off here
but expanding the South Stand and the three rows will take us circa 55K
expanding the North Stand will take it to 60K
the numbers bandied around are to 80k which suggests 10,000 per stand
which tbh, i find incredible and unlikely, but who am i to judge, but certainly a lot more than 1500 i would have thought

Filling the four corners must be two or three thousand , the North stand takes us to 62000, so the two sides would be about 7500 each. Not sure how many extra rows that would be.

Yeah, sorry I should have added that his figures still don't add up (to me anyway ;) ).

I had always assumed that any redevelopment of the East and West stands would include the removal of the spirals so that the stands could project out further and include more corporate / commercial space etc. This would then mean escalators or similar would be required.

there will be no escalators in the new southstand. Just a lift that you have to book/organise with the club and stairs for the rest of you.
