Imagine your an away fan that went to a game in 2014 and saw this.....
Etihad+3.jpg

Then came back 1 year(okay it'd be over 12 months but you get my point 2015) and saw the below, you'd be pretty shocked at how quick that's happened wouldn't you?

Those of us who have witnessed it growing have maybe become immune to it, but seeing the comparison, it's staggering.
Those corners still look like they've collapsed though!

quite amazing stuff you don't realize how bland that first picture is, maybe we were taken in with how nice the stadium was because we moved in from an aging Maine Road, that first pic is quite depressing TBH,and the new stand is quite intimidating the way its perched within yards of the road

There has been talk that the corners may have been done that way to facilitate possible expansion of the East and CB stands sometime in the future. But I do agree with you. They're not particularly pleasing to the eye. It's not a natural sweep down from one roof level to the other, it does look very hollowed. I suppose time will tell, moreso when the South Stand expansion is finished.

without checking the development pics the corners will be finished off to match the S/S so the angle of drop wont be as prominent when completed, correct me if i'm wrong

Stark...blimey!

Top pics Jrbster. Cheers.

the only thing that spoils it for me is all that 1980s caging for the away fan segregation 'after the game' then to add to that we have that steel removable wall thing which woudnt go a miss in 1970s Belfast it really is an eyesore and most away fans must think WTF are they still that bad here

Seeing the old roof supports still there in the new stand really shows how much bigger it is now than before.

How can anybody have anything negative to say about this wonderful stand and quite brilliant design, forget about the expansion of the cb and east stand once the north stand is built this will be the Most amazing stadium in the country , what a great Job Can't wait for the external lighting and design Work to be completed , truly stunning!

not being negative mate the stadium is out of this world, just saying about the stupid after match segregation its so 1970s in a 2015 era, there is only ever trouble versus Man U so surly that single game could be policed better without all that fencing shit

Those new cable supports have an impact as well.

It makes the thing look fucking huge.

It feels right, this. I've always thought the 2 ends, aided by the stadium sinking into the ground, made it look a bit soft.

It's imposing now, looks like a proper stadium. Right up there with the best around.

The long term plan is 4 new stands. It will happen as our club and city grow. I will enjoy the non symmetry and watching the development over the next 10 years. We are not ready for 70,000 plus crowds yet but we will be in a few more years. I went for a good nosey round yesterday and spoke to someone working on it. It won't be 100 percent ready but enough to get the safety licence and then finished off during the first month of the season.

Ps it's easy to criticise the contractors - can you even begin to imagine the brain power and effort that has been needed to complete that!

I am sure us fans do not know the half of what has been achieved, the fact that it is a unique undertaking makes everything that much harder. The Minihad must have been a "walk-in-the-park" by comparison, although the decontamination of the old Aniline site would have been challenging. Would be great if someone has made a documentary style cd of the project.

When do you think the North Stand will get done, and are the seats in place at the front of the West Stand? Thanks

I think if we get 10 plus full houses and an average above 52k this year work will start next summer.

I didn't go inside yesterday just walked the perimeter. I know the project manager is trying to get west stand seats in in tie for the Chelsea game. That is not too hard a job in my opinion so think they will be in.

Glad to here you think that, think the club will have little or no say about the segregation and policing policy after games this will be up to the police force. Think the open plan of the stadium which means you can walk Round the entire ground From all directions may have been the main factor into the way the police choose this method of crowd control
