i very doubt it will happen, However the North stand is starting at the end of the season, and may well start earlier like they did with the south stand.
ps the 4th tier was probably a design for the original stadium they proposed for the manchester olympic bid, which was downgraded for the commonwealth games
You doubt they'll expand the East/West stands? Why? I don't think they spent money on the planning app (not to mention the architects fees) for fun.

Do we think it will be the same kind of roof or will they change it? If it's not a closed roof I hope we stick to the same design as I kind of like it.
They'll eventually just extend the South stand roof all around to join the new North stand roof when doing the East/West stands.

north stand definitely happening - and if we fill the north stand too and the waiting list grows (thanks to Pep) then why would they not look at the east/west third tier extensions?
It will happen if the expanded 61,000 capacity stadium is filled regularly at least for League matches.

We tend to fill it when away teams don't take up the full away allocation! Handing out another 4-5000 season tickets will ensure the stadium is filled for the most part. Having seen us fill 54000 for virtually every league game I pretty sure the club know the demand is there. We just need to convince some of our fans to embrace cup games and European nights in particular!

I can't understand why people still include the conditional clause 'if' when talking about filling the stadium for PL matches. Is it just the steady drip, drip, drip of social and news media?
No, it's probably going to games and seeing empty seats. However, a lot of the seats will be sold, just people who can't be arsed going - or have a wedding on the same day as the West Brom game, or a Christening on the day of the Stoke game, or a family barbecue on the day of the Bournemouth game.....thankfully these family events are planned ahead of time so they don't clash with the Rags/Liverpool\Chelsea\Spurs games!

That aside, we'll sell the tickets, especially with the football currently being played. God only knows what it will be like in a seasons time.

The danger with expanding too much is the north stand will be ready for at the moment what is PEPs last season

Oh, problem there then. Maybe we can get Mourinho in, as he guarantees trophies.......

Not a chance they would extend the colin bell and east. We havent got the fan base to fill 70k+ stadium, and who in their right mind would want to sit all the way up there ?? its ridiculous right at the back now.
Also city didnt spend any money on the planners, it was Manchester City Council that made the olympic bid. was nothing to do with us.
Once the North stand is done and takes us to 61k i think it would be amazing if we fill that every week.

Let's wait ten years before claiming there's no chance. Ten years of consistently winning titles will see our fan base expand by a considerable amount. I'd say expanding both east and Colin bell stand is a certainty.

Like it or not we are only going to get crowds pushing 61,000 if we are challenging and playing a good style of football, dosnt help with long term planning when your manager seems to be here for 3 seasons.
Using mourinho as an example he wouldn't draw 61,000 in with the hoofball he plays.
The day trippers pick up the slack at the swamp where we haven't got that option just yet

We don't know how long we are going to be successful for ,the alternative is cheap tickets like west ham ,where the £99 kids tickets will prove to be a disaster for them as loads have stopped going already ,they have also got spurs,Chelsea and arsenal fans with season tickets selling them cheap but guaranteeing derby tickets according to west ham sites

They will almost certainly extend the sides. The question is 'when'. That will be down to whether they decide to just build it anyhow & leave seats usually empty (like Barcelona) or do it gradually over a long period.

I'd just build it as a follow on from the North Stand a couple of years later. Only sell tickets up there when the rest is full. Barcelona last season averaged 72,911. The highest attendance was 98,760, so typically they have over 25k empty seats. Nobody gives a flying fuck. No reason we have to sell out the ground every week. It's a bullshit modern day trick rags etc use to try & make other clubs feel inferior, even though they don't sell out themselves.

We will fill the 61k regularly in the near future btw, just as we are doing with 54k. It will happen.

Couldn't put it better myself.
