I think that's a very generous assessment. If he was funding it himself I would be more sympatheticI suspect that Ratcliffe's part acquisition of United was driven, by a desire to establish a lasting legacy in his home region, through the creation of a 'Wembley of the North'.
He's not lived in Manchester since junior school and shown no inclination til now.
More to do with generating money and having a more valuable asset when time comes to sell
As an example if we bought a corner shop and the government paid to turn it into Harrods we would be happy with the proceeds when we came to sell, yes..
