Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Our neighbours in Trafford buying up a fair bit of land around the swamp again. When the world recovers a bit they will be selling (the glaziers) and offering the opportunity of a packaged planning permission for a new stadium and surrounding land opportunities - ironically I can see the Saudis or Qatar buying them. They will have a new stadium within 10 years I don’t doubt.

Qatar and the glazers would want 10b

Definitely expanding the North stand (and seems to indicate that the rest of the stadium will grow). Also states that a new stadium will not be built.

What time is that into the interview so I can skip to it. Thanks.

41:50.

It’s only a quick comment tbh. The interviewer is like ‘you’re at an athletics stadium are you gonna move?’ and he explains it isn’t like that anymore and that they’ve expanded the South Stand and are now planning to expand the North Stand.

Taken yesterday.

Apart from the Etihad Stadium and Coop Live Arena, you can see the 2 gas holders.

Great snippet.

It took them 10 years to upgrade their seats for people with disabilities.

Yes it’s a mess but they have an opportunity with the land and the state of it down their to create huge new redevelopment.

The opportunity is there but the Glazers won’t want to pay for it - US Sports franchisees usually demand lots of state funding / subsidies and typically threaten to relocate if they can’t get what they want…. I can honestly see the taxpayer being dragged into funding a new OT as part of a World Cup or Euros bid.

That is probably the plan.

I dare say we will use the same funding for the new North Stand.

Ferran, if you’re reading this thread, can we have a bit more info on the North Stand expansion you said was still going ahead during your interview in Iceland. We’ve been waiting years for a in-depth update.

If you didn’t already know, the vast majority of City fans would like a large single tiered home end/North Stand. If that isn’t possible for whatever reason, a large double tiered home end/North stand would be City fans 2nd choice. TBH there isn’t much support for another 3 tired stand like the South Stand.

Thanks.
