Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I think it looks impressive from ANR where it's been extended. Looks drab and underwhelming from Asda car park.

Anyone know why the first tier was built under ground level, makes it look less imposing to me.
Because it was built as an athletics stadium with a running track. The first tier was dug into to get closer to the pitch.

I wouldn't say it's poor and I don't think too many had that much of a problem with it when we first moved in but it's clear that in terms of some of the newer stadia that have been/are being built things have moved on hugely since 2003. Also, ours was designed for athletics and built with materials that deaden atmosphere rather than amplify it. To be fair, the club have addressed this in part with the new roof above the expanded South Stand 3rd tier being built with material that reflects noise as opposed to the old roof which absorbed it.

If they can do something similar with the proposed North Stand expansion plus not have it over 3 tiers but 2 or even 1 then that will help improve the atmosphere immensely. That single tier end that Spurs are building looks class but it's still possible for us to do something similar.

I would add that I've heard any expansion of the North Stand is now probably 3-5 years away so if safe standing comes in before that - as is looking increasingly likely - then the club will have to implement it into the current configuration (perhaps as a temporary measure pending expansion of the NS where it may be given a more permanent home).

Some of the comments on here are a little over the top I guess. I agree stadium design has moved on and you expect that. That said, many stadiums come with 3 tier design and don’t struggle for atmosphere. If we can get a designated end which is marketed for singing fans then that’s gonna help loads.

I agree it fabulous. I don't want it extended , we don't have infra structure to exit site cleanly now after match. With 54,000 attendance.
City would be gridlocked for hours if another 15 or 20 are stacked on.
Preferably I would like to see demand of a regular 65,000 pushing to get 54,000 seats.

No empty seats . Make it easier to resell if you can t attend.

The extra revenue for match tickets is irrelevant. A dip in the ocean against TV and sponsorships etc.

Good point although some would argue there are plenty of games where demand exceeds the current capacity. The club know i guess and there isn’t any great need to rush. We’ve got the space and time to do what we want really and the good will of the council. Transport has to be improved massively for games and an extra 7000 every game would definitely impact on that. Metrolink just don’t send enough trams

Bet the west brom game doesn't exceed demand even playing beautiful football and being 12 points clear....
We need it rammed every game......

Yeah you’re probably right. That’s where the local fan base comes in I guess. So many games doesn’t help but literally 2 Home games in Feb unless there’s a cup game means people will get to rest their pockets!

We tend to sell out the top tier of the away end (when tickets are returned) regardless of the opposition.

There will be plenty of empties vs West Brom due to season card holders not turning up.

How about a neutral fan zone some ware after we have developed the North stand. Will welcome neutrals to enjoy watching the best team in the world. Will help grow the club and tickets could be sold over the internet, as an option if you are visiting Manchester as a tourist.

We already have this - it’s called 93:20 - full of tourists every week !

It doesn't have to be full every week. Prices for PL games are disgracefully high and this is why the shit games don't sell out. The fact is we COULD sell far more tickets for lots of games than the stadium's capacity currently allows. So why not rebuild the ground? Just think of a packed out Etihad with 70,000 + home fans rocking the ground when we're thrashing the rags or Real Madrid etc. We can afford it and we should do it. SOON! (pretty please)

The club need to keep marketing corporate tickets to get maximum returns and our football style will help.

Introduce safe standing and a fuck load more cheap season tickets and we will get higher attendances. The corporate tickets will help balance the reduced price season tickets and everyone wins. You would rather more turn up because even those in cheaper seats will spend on a pie and a pint.
