Are you sure? I'm up in Scotland but online at least it's still open. It’s probably mentioned somewhere on this thread but what’s happening to the Asda site. It looks as if the store has closed?

There were discussions about 12 months ago with a firm which specalises in sports bars/micro brewery type developments but it has been quiet since then so it's not clear what is happening long-term.What are the plans for the old Merc dealership. Pleanty room for a hotel and parking there.
I've just been shopping in there and it is well and truly open. It’s probably mentioned somewhere on this thread but what’s happening to the Asda site. It looks as if the store has closed?
It would be ideal for a bar complex or hotel. There were discussions about 12 months ago with a firm which specalises in sports bars/micro brewery type developments but it has been quiet since then so it's not clear what is happening long-term.
Panic buying to stock up for the closing of a few hours on Monday :)I've just been shopping in there and it is well and truly open.
In fact it was quite busy for a Friday dinner time.
Funnily enough,I did notice Lance Corporal Jones running around shoutingPanic buying to stock up for the closing of a few hours on Monday :)
I would agree. They wont look to incorporate the hotel into the stadium, it limits the number of rooms and even if you could have balcony rooms with views of the football, you'd make far much more from having proper seating.
The north stand expansion will follow the south stand I'm sure. It comes down to costs and feasibility at the end of the day and even if it would be lovely to have a larger tier for more vocal support, that would likely mean moving the family stand because you wouldn't want families sat below vocal supporters chanting rude things! The knock-on impacts would be too substantial. You'd have to move all of the families elsewhere, move others to accommodate them and we know the away fans aren't moving despite the many calls for them to go elsewhere.
It will be just like the south stand, they'll keep one tier as a family stand and the rest will be for new or existing fans to move into.
All that was in a Daily Mail article the day before tbfThis has been posted by a guy on Facebook who seems to have pretty good knowledge of the Club.
The family stand is finally in the works of being extended similar to what the south stand 3rd tier is like.....it will be the second highest attendance premier league club with it being extended to around 62/63 thousand....also a hotel is back in discussion plans of building it on the land of the stadium!
The future is definitely bright for us blues!
Would make a great railway station for the circular loop line linking Piccadilly, Victoria and Oxford Road if ever the Ardwick Curve viaduct was restored. Now possible given the Ordsall Chord. Would solve so many of transport issues to the stadium and new arena is that loop was reinstated. Some new points, under 1km of line needed, and the existing viaduct refurbed that's all. There were discussions about 12 months ago with a firm which specalises in sports bars/micro brewery type developments but it has been quiet since then so it's not clear what is happening long-term.

We would have if they reinstated the Ardwick Curve.Have we got a circular loop line ?
Not much knowledge of rail, other than the bloody train was packed after the match last week.
Our capacity is 53,400 (last season) according to the official website. I believe another 250 seats have been added since. The Mail article is a pile of shit. First of all our capacity is now about 54,000 since it was reduced for those double advertising boards, second, Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham already have stadiums that hold over 60,000 so where is this third biggest crap coming from if we only add 5,000 seats? Third, it mentions West Ham gaining extra income from other events like pop concerts, West Ham are tenants for football games only, they don’t own the stadium hence can’t gain additional income. Anyway I couldn’t give a shit, the club will look to maximise profit, sweat the assets etc btw who the fuck is that dick doing the WWF shouting when we score? It’s fucking embarrassing.

Agree completely but in this country decision-making about infrastructure developments can be interminable, let alone actually building the fucking things.Would make a great railway station for the circular loop line linking Piccadilly, Victoria and Oxford Road if ever the Ardwick Curve viaduct was restored. Without it going to ashburys and turning back, then the bit you are talking about using would need a new bridge built for a missing section at either end, and reinstating sections which haven't been used for decades. Difficult to know but I suspect it might take more than just putting some new track down. The bridge required to rejoin it at Ashton Old Road in particular would be massive and go through Private Property and or parkland.Would make a great railway station for the circular loop line linking Piccadilly, Victoria and Oxford Road if ever the Ardwick Curve viaduct was restored. I thought the track was down at Ashburys ? But I could be wrong. I don't doubt it would be a major undertaking and I have simplified what's required. ;-)Without it going to ashburys and turning back, then the bit you are talking about using would need a new bridge built for a missing section at either end, and reinstating sections which haven't been used for decades. I dont think there is any prospect of it happening.
Not really, I just have an interest in Manchester development and the lack of investment in transport infrastructure is one of the things that frustrates me.Cheers.
Usually walk to the ground from Piccadilly and have never really noticed it.
You know your beans!

This is the Ardwick Curve, it links the Piccadilly lines to the existing railway line that runs just to the west of the old Merc garage.
