Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

It's an imposing stadium no doubt. Only just notice the wire frame that will form the inside circle section of the roof is currently sat on what would be Level 1 in our ground. Ready to be lifted in the coming weeks I think. Shows if City wanted to, they could take the whole roof off and start again.

This aerial shows the sheer scale of the 1 tier end. By the look of it, if your on the last row of that stand you are 1 and a half pitches away from the opposite goal mouth. Whereas if you at the front row of the other end, you gain half a pitch. Mental.

Why's it egg shaped?

Looks superb, that. Shame they'll be more empty seats than the Emptyhad ;)

So if your sat at the back of that stand, you could go right to the front and walk around to the opposite goal, meet your mate at half time, fix your oxygen mask and return to your seat haha

Just seen this trailer on Twitter - exactly two weeks to go now:

Two things just occurred to me seeing that again (there's actually nothing new in it compared with the image @jrb posted on 9 February).

Firstly, this is the only time I can recall ADUG lending their name to anything relating to the overall future of East Manchester (as opposed to separate infrastructure or housing developments). And secondly, in the light of that, it's interesting that we have a reference to entertainment alongside sports and leisure, since the only official word on that in the past has come in Council strategy papers, set out in purely aspirational terms.

Too much to hope that those of us who were banging on about this on the original Vegas thread about a year after the takeover might finally have something to get excited about?

Are we confident that what they will present will be deeper in content, detail and timescales than the document that @jrb posted on here early December.

I'm never confident now having had my hopes raised all those years ago. But on the face of it, exhibitors at MIPIM like to create a splash if they can. They could easily have put on a session about sports and education in east Manchester with people from MMU but without ADUG, making no mention of entertainment. That would still be a significant good news story. I'm hopeful that the involvement of ADUG and mention of entertainment might mean they'll give us some exciting news. But we'll have to wait and see.

Sounds promising.

They seem to finally have brought our the big guns for MIPIM vis a vi City- I wonder who will represent ADUG or speak o behalf of the plans?

I think there will be an expansion of the Campus, further investment in a university presence on the wider site.

Incidentally Disney have taken 100% control of EuroDisney and plan to expand the park based on their movie portfolio that now includes Star Wars so it would seem that they arent going to invest in Manchester any time soon.
