Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Its a company called Symmetry that seems to have a tie with Laing Orourke

This is what we are getting with the add on bit at the back
Having a look through the CGI mock ups on there and found this image... appears to be an athletics track mocked up in the stadium but with the new extended stand on it... don't think it'd even be feasibly possible but an interesting image

The atmosphere in English football has been on the decline for 20 years. The match day experience at most grounds has been sterilised compared to what it once was. A lot of this is down to ticket prices with many working-class fans and young people priced out leading to a more middle-class environment. We've even seen a rise in people buying season tickets but only attending the bigger games - something which City have suffered badly from in recent years as it led to empty seats at fixtures which were sold out weeks in advance. Another thing at City is that the middle tier is slowly being turned into a premium seat-only tier.

When you have a 3 tier stadium you end up with a greater disconnect between the tiers especially when the lower tier and upper tier are separated by this corporate chasm. That's why there is a thirst by City fans to have a larger tier with this expansion where more like-minded fans can group together. That's the easy part though, the hardest part is bringing like-minded fans together and attracting more younger fans at price points which are affordable.

You can tell that a lot of people here don't actually attend games so they mostly go off media narratives. Talk of Old Trafford having atmosphere etc. The long-time match-going United fans for the most part hate the atmosphere at Old Trafford. It's why they've been pushing for a proper singing section and to rid the Stretford End of corporate seats. Even Anfield has a poor atmosphere unless it's a big game. Don't get me wrong, if it's a big game, Anfield is one of the best but if it's a mid-table team or lower and it's a crap KO time then it's as bad as anywhere else.

Is that not one of the Etihad (before it was called the Etihad) proposals before we dug down and ditched the track? Seb Coe got very upset about that which was a silver lining.

fully could be, was just something i'd not seen in a while, looking at the design of the roofing it aligns with the new roofing... either way it annoyed Seb Coe so thats a positive

I vaguely remember this before we moved from Maine Road, it was concept of or a home end before the then City of Manchester Stadium was built if my memory serves me correctly !

City are very keen to recognise, in perpetuity, the unique achievement of 100 points by naming the North Stand ...
THE CENTURION.
It is felt within the club that they failed to market the record breaking achievement effectively enough and that, as a consequence, it fails to get the recognition and respect it richly deserves.

The club believes, rightly imo, that the name will be used by broadcasters, media and supporters in a manner that will perpetuate the achievement, and generate a lasting legacy to the finest team in PL history.

It gets my vote.

I thought you said it was being called the Great Northern end?

Only because the first tier was built but covered with the running track for the games ! The first tier is actually below ground level !
It was the first question at the exhibition with the architects. If the pitch is below ground level, how high is the water table? (That was actually a problem in Manchester as it had risen with fewer industries extracting water from bgl.) The next question to the Australian architect was "Do you realise that rain will blow in under that roof?"
