Got a bleep on my Covid App as well. Transportation and crowd management was appalling. It is only going to get worse.Don't agree about West ham thought it was brilliant last week ,kept us on the move 2 stops at handheld stop signs no problems on the station or platform and seats on the tube
The buses can be used in rush hours by Tgm it’s hell getting in and out of town and only getting worse. Let me explain, say the bus is in use 3.30 till 6pm on a Tuesday ferrying workers students etc in and out of town. the bus driver gets paid overtime to ferry fans to the game 6-7.30 and then 9.30 till 10.30. Weekends might be a bit more tricky.Bonkers idea if you ask me. You buy a fleet of electric buses and then use them for a few hours in a maximum of around 30 days a year. They would spend 95% of their time stuck in the garage.
It would be far cheaper to offer a free taxi service for all supporters.
most of the traffic is caused by people in cars. The people are in cars so much because the public transport to the stadium is shite. Sort the infrastructure and with bit of smart thinking in terms of traffic light and possibly even some road temporarily dedicated to the the bus. Also, who says every bus has to go to the city centre? I live in bury, do I get the tram or bus? No, cos their shite! Sort it and I probably would. Add bury, Bolton, Denton, Stockport etc on and on…… And you know what, if when the arena is finished and we have decent bars and restaurants I’d get here a bit earlier spend a few quid too!Sounds great but how many buses would be needed and if they are just stuck in the trafic after the game who'd use them.
80 vehicles x 800k = £64 million. city Took a 650 million loan for “infrastructure”. We have a 54k stadium and a 23k arena right next to each other that nobody is going to be able to reach if we don’t do something. Joint venture with silverlake , council/TGFM would piss this. Are we really back to discussing pie in the sky fantasy ideas about City buying a £100m fleet of electric buses.
To me, adding a load of buses around the campus is a step backwards, especially when we have the (so called) more advanced tram system slap bang in the middle of it.most of the traffic is caused by people in cars. Nobody is sorting out buses from the ground to outer town anytime soon, all those things require big council investment at a time they have more pressing concerns. You make a good point about the arena though but more after the game, decent bars and restaurants would probably make people hang around after the game and thin out the rush to get away from the campus.most of the traffic is caused by people in cars.
