Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

The gas tanks land is going to be used for something I can't see City wanting something that they are not aligned with going there
That land was put up for sale. City could have bought it to increase the size of the back car parks. It would bring in additional Coop Live car parking revenue, and additional car parking spaces on match days, etc.

Interesting.

The land isn't showing for sale on the National Grid Property Portal.

The land may have already been sold to City, at the back of the car parks, or for the wider Holt Town proposal?

Three sites totalling just shy of 16 acres are up for grabs just outside the Holt Town regeneration zone.

National Grid is selling a trio of plots off Bradford Road close to the Etihad Campus and the soon-to-complete Co-op Live arena.

Two of the plots are former gasholder sites, with the largest spanning 10 acres. The gasholder has been removed and the site has been levelled.

The second largest site is a little over five acres and also features a former gasholder, which is in the process of being removed.

The third site is a one-acre landlocked L-shaped plot close to the Blue car park at the Etihad.

Is that plot of land still empty to the right of the outdoor playing courts?

Strange it hasn't been developed or possibly isn't being used for anything.

Lexstar.

We don't want a Wembley Way and residential close to the Etihad or on the Collar site. It's utterly dreadful looking and soulless.

Unfortunately this is the reality of the apartments that have been thrown up along Wembley Way and around Wembley.

The FA sold numerous plots of land to different property developers (and their Architects), and this is the bog standard dross they've all come up with.

Having been to Wembley on numerous occasions and seen the apartments for myself, it was very disappointing.
I don't think there will be housing on the collar site as the Holt Town development takes care of that, it will cinema, bars restaurants and retail and with hotels with an exhibition centre attached to it

Just look at the drawing below

There's nothing to indicate City will expanded the Etihad again in the near future once the North stand is done. Many posters on here think and agree City will stick at 62,000 for the foreseeable future.

The CFA is done.
The South Stand is expanded.
The Coop Live Arena is open.
The North stand will be expanded, including a hotel, etc, which pretty much completes the Etihad expansion.
The only thing left to do is the Collar site, and that pretty much finishes the Etihad Campus off, bar any plans for the car parks at the back of the Etihad Campus, which are needed for match day and Coop Live parking.
Right I am not disagreeing with you in fact the opposite regarding chances of any further expansion of the stadium anytime soon

In fact that’s my point someone was saying they will start on the collier soon. But how can they when it will make it impossible to do any work on the side of stadium which they will do eventually

Sorry, I misread your post.

Any start on the Collar site probably won't happen until the whole North stand redevelopment is completed in 2026. City have done the Etihad expansion, redevelopment, and the wider Etihad Campus, including the CFA in timed phases.

Definitely can see another hotel being built

There is definitely a requirement for more accommodation. Especially people attending gigs who don't want the hassle of running for a Tram with the masses.

And then the folk who live out of town, who don't want to miss the last train back to the sticks.

Just stroll back to your hotel and get the beers in.

I think City will wait to see how the new hotel performs first, not just at weekends, but throughout the week before committing to another hotel straightaway. 400+ rooms is a lot of rooms to fill on a daily and weekly basis throughout the year.

I mean beyond this.

The side stands will surely get done at some point but expanding the stand opposite the tunnel will surely be impossible to do if the collier is fully developed.

Maybe they could do the bottom cat park in the mean time

Not really. There’s loads of space.

It would only come out as far as just after the spirals.

There collar site is behind the fence after the status.
