Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Peel own most of Trafford Park, Salford Quays, and Pomona, unfortunately.

A more useless property developer you won't find for numerous reason's.

Thank fuck they have nothing to do with City and East Manchester.
I think Warrington council have just approved one of their schemes at Peel Hall, despite Peel doing fuck all to maintain the swing bridges that cross the Mcr Ship Canal. At times, when one of the bridges fail, parts of the town come to a complete standstill for hours

One man’s “drab and uninspiring” is another “iconic “ I’m firmly in the latter group ;-)
You’re easily pleased? ;).

It’s a shame it has the first tier below ground level because it takes away some of the imposing aspect of it but the dreary grey colour, especially on a grey day, looks dismal.

To me ;).

Peel along with ICITIES are constructing a new 3000 capacity Ice Arena at Trafford City, which will also be the home of Manchester Storm.

So there's another possible usage and proposal gone for the Collar Site.

I'm not saying an Ice Arena was or is being proposed for the Collar site
I hope it melts.

I was thinking that the fan zone could also be used by fans before the gigs at the Co op, a great opportunity for year round use

Also another possibility gone if Utd do get their government grant money - didn't see it mentioned in the spending review. Between us and Trafford "City" what non housing/offices are they hoping to put on all that land, it's not as big a plot as they/media try to make out - a massive 1m sq ft shed containing barn doors for their strikers to practice in?

I agree as do the pavers all around the stadium. In contrast the inside of the stadium and the rest of the campus look really good.

Maybe one day.

Good thinking, that's exactly what they mean by an all year around tourist destination venue The lower floor of the hotel building is a food and beverage area accessed from City Square, this will be open every day maybe not all the outlets, and for sure when gigs are on the it will be open the lower floor of the commercial building accesses the City Store Also others have said the Town Square could also be utilized

Joe Merced way looks tired/weird now in faded blue and square gone

How long would it take to resurface that with a different design given co-op has gigs on every night near enough.

There was talk of a general groundworks/landscaping spruce up around the stadium, it definitely warrants it but would have to be close season and after the hotels open so you’d think summer 2027 at the earliest, maybe later if they want to get the collar site done first.

I'm sure it will be done closer to the opening of just the North stand, or of the whole redevelopment of the North stand. All it requires is a new layer of tarmac along the length of JMW. I hope JMW isn't painted again. TBH I thought it looked shit. The paint hasn't stood the test of time.

Director with Stagetruck Group UK and Europe.

Monday already, a challenging but enjoyable weekend. 40 trucks loaded out of Frankfurt Stadium and unloading in Manchester CO OP arena 19 hours later.

80 team drivers, 16 shunt drivers and the show was superb.

Extremely proud of our team, the DD management in our office is second to none thanks to Lucy and Beth. Our lead drivers Jumbo and Jon were exceptional and the Tour Management have sent 2026 dates over.

We lead others follow, but all is only possible with the best team and for that we are incredibly thankful.

I’d have thought it would be done as part of or just after all the work planned for the new restaurant /retail area around the arena is done.

Here is the landscaping plan from the design statement Only shows around the new development but one would have though it would extend beyondImage 6-16-25 at 12.22 PM.jpegImage 6-16-25 at 12.21 PM.jpegImage 6-16-25 at 12.35 PM.jpeg
