Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

FWIW, I was affected by both the North Stand / Family Stand and East Stand Level 2 changes. I wouldn’t want any corporate seats (in an ideal world) but there will be corporate seats and they will offset value golds etc. The Club won’t accept decreasing match day revenue so there’s a balancing act.

Yes corporate seats aren’t often full, just like it was the case for most parts of the ground for non “big games”.This is not aimed at you mate but a few posters have claimed the atmosphere will be affected by corporatising 202 to 204. There isn’t any atmosphere to affect in those blocks, although I disagree with lots of top Blues being pushed out if their seats.

I’m not in the North Stand but I’ve been encouraged how Blues in there have got behind the team in some crunch games this season. It would be a mistake to turf them out for a single tier panacea for atmosphere that safe standing was supposed to address

Thanks for all your good work on this thread and the atmosphere in this ground. I agree with most of what you post. It’s just this issue of a single tier standing and kicking out Blues they I disagree with. Two or three wrongs don’t make a right.

Apologies. Will reply later. :-)

We'll never catch United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs up on match day revenues. Our fan base is completely different. We might get closer, that's about it. I'd rather see a 50% increase in City fans that have givenn up going and have been priced out over the last x amount of years.

Exactly how many corporate areas do we need at the Etihad before we max out on corporate areas or supply out strips demand, which has already happened.

I feel like I'm replying to Ferran Soriano on a daily basis on this thread.
I’m just trying to see it from the club’s point of view, for me match day revenue is such a small part of our turnover, they should be concentrating more on bringing in new and younger fans.

I’ve no idea myself, I also have no idea what plans we have as part of any extension, but the club will know exactly the demand for any more corporate and what the market is. The better facilities will attract corporate customers from a dilapidated on and off the pitch united.

Our match day income is a long way behind our rivals, that’s where the money is unless you’d prefer a 50% increase on season card prices ?
And matchday revenue is way behind tv and commercial revenue. Continued success coupled with the matchday atmosphere and visitor experience are key to generating revenue.

Corporate has little to do with with the actual football. Guy I know has 4 tickets in the Tunnel club for Northern clients and 4 in the H club at Spuds for the Southerners. He enjoys both as a neutral but he'd rather be at the races...

He comes to City because the facilities are better then at the Swamp or Klanfield

And where will these mythical returning fans be accommodated? You want to cut prices and remove hospitality with no apparent increase in the numbers attending. Brilliant economics that is!

*At the end of a title winning season, and a CL QF & SF season.

The only time all corporate areas are fully sold out and filled are for the big games. Most of the time you can see swathes of empty seats in the corporate areas, especially for the lesser games or mid-week games. I’ve been into certain corporate areas over the years and there have been plenty of empty seats. The club run discounted packages and seats in corporate areas on a match by match basis to try and fill the corporate areas. Check the City ticket site next season.

Why do you constantly post there is a need for more corporate areas?
I’m not arsed whether the club put more Corporate seats in or not. But I do have a little bit of knowledge on how the hospitality side at City works and the club knows there is defo more opportunity to increase revenue. It’s why they are making changes on L2 this Summer with Kits. The Ardwick, Managers corner and the offsite offerings have shown there is big demand at this level of pricing.

Basing your assumption on a few empty seats for lesser games is nonsense.

The bottom line is our match day income is too low compared to our rivals. Having more corporate options will only help City keep season card prices down - or stop them culling the number of season tickets sold each year.

More corporate options will also drive any plans for North Stand redevelopment - whether it be on that stand or other areas which allows supporters to move.

Fully understand. Corporate is where the big one off money and spend is.

100% agreed trying to bring old, new, and younger fans back/in, mate.

It’s a tough balancing act, but the club need to start concentrating on the latter a bit more, especially once the North Stand expansion is started. Corporates aren’t going to fill and additional 10,000 seats, or whatever the number of additional seats is.
