Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

He needs the Peter Swales treatment - a boiling hot cup of tea and a pie (preferably still in a microwave) throwing in his direction on a match day.
Mentioning Swales & pie together takes me back. Used to go in the Blue Room in the Main Stand after games as a kid when Swales was in charge. The tea ladies would always look after me & my pal, feeding us slices of some proper special tasting pie, whilst our dad’s were mingling

Had pretty much every program signed by most of our players from about 1986-89

Yep the blue paint and some of the concrete walkway surrounding the stadium is looking really shabby in places now

Agreed. Been mentioned loads of times on here. Think it will be repainted and repaired before the arena opens up in December 2023. Maybe next Summer after this season has finished. If nothing is done, hopefully that’s a sign that the NS is getting expanded, and there’s no point in wasting money on the wider area behind the NS as it will eventually be a construction site for a few years. I appreciate the stage at City Square is currently being improved.

There's just been an article on BBC Midlands Today discussing the legacy of the Commonwealth Games on East Manchester. Obviously showed the Etihad, Velodrome and Squash Centre as well as the more recent City Academy, Connell College & nearby new flats, as well as the Co-op Arena developments.
All shown as an example of "how it should be done" and hoping for similar results in Perry Barr & Smethwick after this summer.
