Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Does that mean they haven’t started ?
In construction it would mean they haven't started on the first critical path item...

But in the case of my post it means i know with 100% certainty that they are behind schedule.

I know times are exciting with the new Arena, but unless Metrolink seriously improve (and I can't see it with just a single line in both directions) the Arena, 8,000 new seats in the North stand and new parking restrictions spell carnage by 2024.

The first clash of a home game and gig will be a nightmare.

I hope I'm wrong, but this is TFGM, who delivered the Droylsden line 13 years behind schedule ! Should have been in place for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

This ‘from the horses mouth’ though im sure most will know this info

North stand extension starts as soon as the arena is finished
It will mirror the south stand (no ‘yellow wall’)
It will incorporate hotels and eateries etc and the superstore.

City square and the superstore will go in its current guise but will be re-done.
Superstore within the stand, square pushed further back.

There will be eatery/bar links to the arena from the stadium

Probs a titanic post this but got told on saturday by a man who knows

Oh and city bought that merc garage and that will be hotel/housing
I kind of thought city square would get redone, it looks a bit tired and the area needs to be undercover. Regarding the club shop, that shouts out a new pub/eatery for fans as it is right in the centre of Mercer Way if done right a roof could be attached so covering the new city square. I thought the club shop could be built into the new stand. If clever design was used it could be amazing there are loads of wasteland around the stadium there are also facilities that could be relocated on the site so making the area more like Wembley. Not copying the Yellow Wall is a massive missed opportunity to improve the atmosphere and have a blue wall at one end of the ground Spurs have done it so are Everton why not Man City

It wasn't TFGM's fault. It was the Governments fault because they withdrew the Metrolink big bang funding. After a campaign by the 10 councils of GM, businesses, the local media, and the residents of GM, the Government eventually backtracked and funded a Metrolink little bang. It delayed Metrolink to East Manchester for over a decade.

It’s actually scheduled to close for two years from 2024 if HS2 happens.

I was reading some comments recently about Spurs fans being disappointed with the atmosphere of their new place. Maybe a single tier isn’t the be all and end all we thought it was?

At least copying the South Stand means we can keep the family stand in tier 2 with no major disruption which means no further disruption from those who would be moved for a new family stand.

They’ve also seemingly been moving away from the idea of tier one being officially part of the family stand so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was evolved into a further safe standing area.

Tier 3 - New cheaper seats
Tier 2 - Family Stand
Tier 1 - Safe Standing

possibly the cost of a single tier or the structural engineering side of things make it unrealistic? easier to do from scratch on a new build.

Single tier, no thanks, you'd have to be Dougal Haston or Don Whillans, fk that.

Not forgetting Ardwick's Joe Brown.
