Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I've seen this viewpoint previously and I just don't get it. The stadium stands out as it is and once the other 3 stands are extended and the roof replaced it's going to look fantastic. That's without considering any exterior wrap put in place.
Hopefully mate. But with all the images and talk I’ve seen and read of an extended Etihad, I’ve never seen or read anything about an exterior wrap.

The newer exterior of the South Stand is fairly average. I’d imagine the new North Stand exterior would be similar to that n’all.

The inside of the stadium when you’re in the seats is nice and will look great when the North Stand is done and then finally when East and Colin Bell stands Level 3s are extended.

The inside of the stadium is beautiful mate, pisses all over Wembley

I noticed a lot last season how much rain was leaking through the roof all around the older roof structure around the stadium.

Is it falling apart?

I’m sure I read on this thread someone say that it was originally made very cheaply and with a short shelf life.
We take this piss out of the rags for having a leaky stadium but our is seemingly falling apart too.

I think it's been mentioned on here although I'm not sure if it's just speculation or not now. Something about the E & W stands if/when they're extended, then the outside footprint would grow, swallowing the spirals so that they're inside the structure.

Went to the Allegiant Stadium in Vegas last week and it made me wish Mansour would build us a world class stadium. I’d say our stadium is definitely in the bracket below world class and that would even be the case once it’s extended. Never been to a stadium like the on in Vegas, I suppose Spurs new ground will be similar.

The exterior without a doubt needs a lot of TLC and work but the basic design is very iconic and unique, our stadium is very recognizable.

I am sure the owners would have loved to start from scratch but with the investment put into the present stadium there is no way a new build will happen.

The north stand remodeled , new roof all around and an exterior wrap, our stadiums will be up with the worlds finest in my opinion.

Outside footprint will need to grow in E & W stands if there are going to be increased numbers given the awful concourses on CB3 & ES3 at the present time.

The Spirals hold the roof system in place. They are there to stay.

If you tried to move the footprint of east and west out you’d have 8 huge concete spirals in the middle of any concourse/corporate areas.

Taking the spirals out is a complete no go.

Any planned extension to ES or CB was just to raise the corners no in line with higher seats on SSL3 and a potential NSL3 Possibly extra 5-8000 seats?

In terms of aesthetics, my question would be around the “mesh” that sits around the 3rd tier, is it necessary for ventilation or could LED screens go round the top.

The plans for the SS/NS expansion showed the spirals remaining - the structural supports for the roof could remain without the spirals though and you could enclose those. That seems like a step too far in terms of cost though, and it's likely we'd see a revised roof (somehow) to tie in the corners to the expanded SS/NS and get a few thousand extra there to take us up to 70,000 or so.

The current plans also talked about the mesh having digital lighting to do displays as part of "facade activation". Facade activation.JPG
