Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Think the best place to locate the Hotel and Museum would be on that wider plot of land where the cabins are and before the car park starts. The hotel and museum would be next to the new plaza and close to the arena. It would also still leave the remainder of the Collar site for a leisure attraction/s

Isn’t almost every bit of info we have saying they will be part of the stand?

I guess we’ll have to see.

Not the Hotel and/or Museum, just the souvenir store? ( just like United)

The rumour is the Hotel is part of the NS redevelopment, but I just can’t see that happening. It would cost some serious money to do, especially with construction costs rocketing over the last 2 years. Imagine how much that would cost to in a years time and over 2 years of construction. The construction cost of the Coop Live Arena has already gone up by £25mill.

Cracking photos @HelloCity you can see from these photos that a new expanded North Stand would basically go all the way down to the club shop, so a new city square will be needed and the club shop relocated, I totally agree with @jrb that the best place for this would be the land where the building units area for COOP live are. If you were to build here you could have an expanded City Square/Plaza area that could then lead to a new area that was the land the former super casino was to be built on, this area could feature the club shop, museum, hotels other shops and pubs restaurants and offices for city staff that would be relocated from the stadium and the office block next to the Mercedes garage, Spurs have done this with Lilywhite House.

Looking at the pictures there is not a lot of room for parking, If you go to Wembley you will see that they have been clever with parking by using multi-storey car parks even one for buses

This is Lilywhite house at Spurs new Staduim it sits on top of a Sainburys supermarket the same could be done for City the club offices sitting on top of the new club shop etc in this building. As you can see from the picture of the former super casino it fits nicely to land that would then join up with Etihad Campus. Having something like this would help both the Staduim and COOP live as it would give people a place to meet and have a drink etc before attending a game or concert this would help make the area a destination all week round as this building could also feature a hotels, club shop, offices, themed resturants and other leisure activties like a cinema etc.

"To Dare is to Do", always makes me chuckle. When did these pretentious 2hats dare to do anything?

At least one hotel on the site would be an absolute minimum, with city and the arena there it would be like printing money, an absolute no brainer.

It would be cheaper to make the hotel, museum and store part of the stand than it would to build them separately. There’s a huge amount of space used up in even the South Stand expansion -93:20, Legends Lounge, Ardwick, new dj floor SSL1. If they have even more space to play around with in an expanded North Stand then they’ll easily be able to accommodate the above.

I think the store and museum would definitely be part of the stand. We’ll see with a hotel as that’s the part most likely to be separate if any, but as of now, the info is it’s part of the stand. Personally don’t have a preference so not bothered either way.

@jrb I totally agree with you, @HelloCity had good points about city square being undercover, with the North Stand expansion it takes the stand down to the door of the club shop. Having a hotel added again there is not enough space there. The club shop and museum and hotel etc would be better in a separate building that could also service the COOP live arena. If you look in the middle of the photo there is a bridge going to the COOP live arena this would make the perfect connection from the arena to a new plaza/city square with surrounding building like I have posted above , they could also use Mercer Way as well.

Maybe also relocating the some buildings there would also help the overall site.

There’s more than enough space. There’s even huge amounts of space in the south stand expansion even. They’re going to need to fill up the same space in the North Stand expansion somehow and potentially there will be even more space if they build out a bit more.

I’d say it was near certain the club shop and museum at a minimum were in the stand.

I would agree. I'm not sure a hotel will be, I think a standalone venue with easy transport access and away from the stadium slightly would make more sense. It might be included, and again I'm with you - not fussed. But the museum and club shop within the stand seems a cert. At the Camp Nou you have the walkway across to the museum from the stadium iirc (been about 20 years since I went and did it). But incorporating it seems the most logical thing to do, then free up external space for bars/restaurants and a plaza under cover which would take you off the tram as an arrival destination onto the stadium and the arena/etc.
