Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Our corners are a bit more delicate since the cable net comes in through them - see below image. We’ve also gone with temporary corner structures in the event we ever extend the CB and ES. This makes it even harder to do anything worthwhile in those areas since the roof supports are all internal and take up a lot of space. They could actually do a bit more with them if they decided to put in permanent structures, such as add a further extra block of seats to the CB and ES third tiers. Like I said though, they couldn’t go all the way around and join up the third tiers because of the cable net and also the third tiers of the sides are at a different angle to behind the goal.

I am sure the design team who will design the new stand will be able to sort this out as the ground needs it's four screens

@jrb that is spot on for an extended 2nd tier, hopefully this is what the club do with elovated safe standing section in the front tier.

And would take anybody in that stand an hour to get out and reach the stairwells.

Already a huge problem for tier three seats, never mind a huge second tier needing at least thirty rows before descending a stairwell.

Health and safety issues too for fire exits.

I am sure it would be set up as three tiers behind it with a function area for fans, what happens at Newcastle for the away fans in the gods? Any transfer updates @tolmie's hairdoo or any other chat about the site

The new Spurs home end has a capacity of 17,500 and has 16 visible entrances/exits spread across the lower and middle section of the stand.

It's because our singing section is in level 1 not level 3 and you can't hear noise from one to the other because of the second tier between them. We need all the singers under the roof, but most don't want to leave level 1 now so that's the problem. The North Stand has to be one huge second tier promoted as the home end singing section. Otherwise the issue will never be resolved and we'll just have to work with what we've got. It's still decent enough, and improving. The fact other grounds seem to be addressing their issues - the rags for example - might kickstart some further efforts to improve things. But we could do with the right people in the right place to utilise the roof and get noise swimming around the ground.
If fans want to remain where they are so be it, we have two noisy ends.

If the new North Stand is promoted and priced as the singing/young end it will still be packed and a mix of existing singers and new singers might be a great mix with an influx of new/more energy.

I will be preferable if the ES Corner singers relocate either to SS3 or NS3...it won't make much sense to dilute the noise across three sections.

All this can be achieved with cooperation, coordination, communication and planning.

Yep agree 100% that at really good promotional campaign can get all the singers in one place in the new stand. It comes down to whether the club are overly arsed, and im not sure they are. Corporate all the way with them .
Not sure on the specifics but united did something similar to get all the singers in one area, ive a feeling you had to be a certain age etc to apply for the area and a fans group had some sort of control over whi could apply . Might not be 100% on the detail but they certainly did ‘something’. I definitely know they get cheap beer pre ko!

So yes, it can be done, itll come down to the clubs enthusiasm

so you can only sing in level 1 wow

Completely missing the point. Having singers spread around the ground in places where noise doesn't travel between them is an issue that needs resolving. Against Chelsea SSL1 thought they'd out sung the Chelsea fans because they couldn't hear them. But the rest of the ground heard the Chelsea fans. The noise would travel around the ground more easily, coming from the top of a tier under the roof.

I've always assumed the more noisy fans always want to be near the away fans. And the family stand would be best as far away from them as possible and kids love to be behind the goal, where adults don't. So the current approach makes more sense.

I think having banter with the away fans is a big part of the fun, but pretty much every other ground in England has its singers located at the other end from the away fans.

Agree. I'm not telling anybody what to do, just floating ideas out. We have to make the most of the acoustic benefits of being at the top of a tier under the roof. There are thousands of fans who would sing, some can stay next to the away fans, intimidate them, give them shite and start their own songs. We could even have some North Stand v South Stand back and forth like the Maine Road days. The atmosphere at the ground has improved, but it can be better still and plenty will want to be in a home end. It does all depend on the design of the north stand though. If it mirrors the South Stand then the third tier could still work, but there's less incentive for people to move over there. A huge extended 2nd tier is an attraction that would tempt a few. We only need a few thousand hardcore singers in there, the rest will then join and the noise will travel.

Bring 119, 115 and SS L3 singers together and hey presto, we have probably 2 thousand like minded fans who want to sing and create an atmosphere. That has to be far more effective than pockets spread around the ground singing different songs.
