This extended residents parking scheme makes no sense at all, for instance, the stretch of Clayton Lane between Ashton New Road and Wilson Street is unrestricted at present,(there is no need for residents parking at this location because there are no residential or business properties). They are proposing to introduce restrictions on Clayton Lane which will stop all match day parking next season.
Thanks for raising this Barney and hellocity….
I can’t walk very far due to being a not so very F.O.C. On a good day I jump in the car, me or up to 4 of us and park outside the red border and inside the new blue one. Outside the new blue border is too far. On a bad day i take the tram from Ashton. On the way there it’s great, on the way back it’s shite and I have to let one tram go to ensure that I get a seat on the next one (my choice). It’s worse for those going back into town even though they get more trams.
1. They’ve got to improve the tram service after the match or find somewhere to stack them.
2. Get a train stop sorted, there’s a loop close by ( someone will tell me the why nots).
3. A match day metrolink pass is £74, off peak fare is. £3.10 return, (zone 2 &3) so that’s 24 games needed. There are 19 PL + 3 CL games guaranteed. Remainder to be made up from max 3 CL knockout, 4 home fa cup ties and 4 home Carabao ties IF we get through CL and get drawn at home in domestic comps.
It’s simply not worth it for me and only worth it for those that have to travel through at least 3 zones.
So, come on City, you want to be offering metrolink passes for less than £50.
4. My other option is pay to park £8/ £10 official, maybe cheaper with one of the fly by nights surrounding the ground adding up to £152 on to my season ‘match experience’ from street parking.
Rant over!
