Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Can someone briefly explain what the ‘collar site’ is and what the plan are for it? I don’t fancy wading through 1.5k pages.

I wonder if the events in the neighboring borough this week will accelerate the plans for the collar site? It’s a 6-15 year built, if that. Once the North stand is done and hotel is done by 2026, City can move onto the Collar Site.

No. Theirs is a minimum of 6 years for the stadium, to decades for the wider area, apartments, etc.

City can move on to the Collar site once the stand, fan zone, and hotel are completed by 2026.

The way City have developed the Etihad Campus, including the CFA, step by step, probably means the plans for the Collar site are already completed and are ready to go.

Not thought about it before but the boards round the works indicated more to comes should we read anything into that anything soon for collier or the side stands ?

How will they do the collier without doing the side stands first if they plan on doing them. Any work on them will be too hard surely once the collier is being worked on. 6 years does not seem long enough to do the side stands any wrap etc given the delays between both stands this time and the time to build demand and the time it takes to wrap stadium and the time still to complete current works

There's nothing to indicate City will expanded the Etihad again in the near future once the North stand is done. Many posters on here think and agree City will stick at 62,000 for the foreseeable future.

The CFA is done.
The South Stand is expanded.
The Coop Live Arena is open.
The North stand will be expanded, including a hotel, etc, which pretty much completes the Etihad expansion.
The only thing left to do is the Collar site, and that pretty much finishes the Etihad Campus off, bar any plans for the car parks at the back of the Etihad Campus, which are needed for match day and Coop Live parking.

I reckon a casino would have topped it off. There is still a lot of vacant land near by, or low value use land which would be cheap to acquire, particularly NWW of the ground. It would be expansion beyond the original site, but i think as long as there is money in it then the investments will continue in 5-15 years time. They will be doing appraisals on what else they can do. 50% of the time there will be no events on, they will be looking to plug the gap.

From what I gather about our neighbours, their development also includes houses/flats. I wonder if that might be the next move for surrounding land in that area.

With Manchester City Staduim being close to the city centre we should have brought this company in to develop the whole area including Holt Town and the surrounding area.

Holt Town is going to the catalyst for change in the area with all these houses and flats people will need places to visit

Its about creating a seven days a week destitnation at the moment it only busy when a concert or game is on. As stated above we need a train station to do this.

The below company where responsible for the Wembley regen. Wembley area is similar to Etihad Campus as it has a staduim and concert venue.

The Collar Site needs redevloped into leisure attraction so that all the people in these new developemts at Holt Town and the surrouding area have a place to go

This video below could give you idea what could happen for the whole area

All the Holt Town land to the left of the Etihad Campus is earmarked for a massive development of housing. Housing/residential has also been mentioned as an option for the Collar site, but the latest block massing CGI in the North stand planning application doesn't show housing/residential. It's going to be commercial, either leisure, or maybe tech/sciences/office led. Who knows what's planned with MCC and MCFC involved?

Lexstar.

We don't want a Wembley Way and residential close to the Etihad or on the Collar site. It's utterly dreadful looking and soulless.

Unfortunately this is the reality of the apartments that have been thrown up along Wembley Way and around Wembley.

The FA sold numerous plots of land to different property developers (and their Architects), and this is the bog standard dross they've all come up with.

Having been to Wembley on numerous occasions and seen the apartments for myself, it was very disappointing.

The gas tanks land is going to be used for something I can't see City wanting something that they are not aligned with going there
