Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I think, as mentioned before on this thread & it's Vegas incarnation, it's the silence in the whole thing that's slightly annoying. You'd have thought that our owners would have stated their intentions by now or at least put it out what options they are considering.
I'm sure they'll do whatever is best for the club & whatever they choose to do, the outcome will be pretty outstanding.
Along with the training facility over the road, it's all going to look very impressive once finished.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Here's one solution, but it won't be cheap. I know it won't happen, but if it did, just wow!

Build a new purpose built football stadium close to the current stadium, and turn our current stadium into a 48,000 indoor arena(new roof), that could be used all year round.

That way MCC would still get £3mill a year from concerts, events, etc, and City would get two revenue streams from the old and new stadium, as well as revenue from the proposed leisure destination.

I will worry about stadium when we get to phase 5. I trust our owner to do the right thing at the right time.

Is it not the phase in which we hold the world to ransom...

1. Ruin football.
2. Ruin Arsenal.
3. Ruin United.
4. Ruin Barcelona and Madrid.
5. Ruin Platini, UEFA, and FFPR.

You can't easily fill in the corners with the current roof structure. The ground anchor cables that support the tension ring exit through the corners smack bang where the the lower part of a third tier would be. The corners also let enough natural daylight through the open shutters (closed on match days) to keep the grass green.

I thought the shutters were to let natural air circulation in, to make the grass grow stronger...?
The louvres at each corner of the stadium could be easily removed without much detriment to the pitch. I don't think they do too much to be honest, although I can see why they were added due to the pitch being built into the ground as such like a Roman amphitheatre and why the stadium appears taller on the inside. The luminescent lining on the roof of the stadium which allows more sunlight to permeate the pitch is far more important than the louvres.

Well I can tell you that a plan is out there for such a design, with all the corners to be seated and a third tier all the way around. Meetings were held by City with several companies in Oct '09 to discuss it along with the council, the brief, as of then was "to be bigger & better than old trafford".
Since then it's been claimed Cook had these plans on his laptop/desk etc and several ex players and celeb fans have been shown such ideas on paper. I know the above as at the time I knew people who attended the meeting.
A lot of what was said at the time was sent via a DM to jrb amongst others and since then a lot of what was said has come to fruition. City have always intended to expand the current stadium rather then build a new one, the only thing I do know they intended to move is/was City square as it was always a temp solution to a short term problem.

That was Khaldoon I reckon. It was when plans for academy stadium were being banded about came on here to say it would be functional.

As for the phases no idea, all I know is we are in phase two, and that there are five phases both for economic side of project as well as team side. Should imagine when analine site completed and we have amassed a few more trophies might move into phase 3. Phase 5 as Jrb says is world domination in both fiscal and playing side. Only my opinion :-)

During which phase do we buyout Asda and convert it into a horse racing venue !
