Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I see lots of independent schools looking to try and run these new free schools. Is it because Gove will shortly make education a 'for' profit activity and so they will be able to reap the dividends of having a school which will attract funding. i can see why City want to do it, but what is in it for the Althy Gram school? It surely isn't benevolence...

My brother in law (who is a rag but is alright) has his own groundworks company. He was asked along to Carrington by a firm who are tendering for some new work there - not sure what but small scale through additional land there. He was told whilst they were strolling through that City continue to buy land in Manchester, but not just near the ground and have bought plots on/around Atlantic Street in Broadheath (at the back of B&Q/Toysrus). My first reaction was "why the f'#k there" but now this link up with Alty Grammar makes me wonder.

Isn't our link-up with the Grammar School solely because part of the Etihad Campus plans feature sixth-form sports science buildings? We're not going to be building the entire, 600-student facility...

how long was the original temp status for the offices?

May that is coming to and end and we have to do something as we don't have anywhere else to put the staff from those offices.

If the plans for extending the stadium have been popped on hold with the training campus coming first then we'll still need the offices for a while longer

The new training campus is going to be the club headquarters and won't be ready until mid 2014, hence why they are probably extending the planning permission on the temporary office block.

The stadium expansion plans are not on hold either, they will be released in time but expect our ground to look nothing like its current form in 3 - 4 years

The two are separate. There is to be a sixth form college to accommodate the academy lads and save them spending hours travelling around the City. That will be funded by the Central Government under the Free Schools policy.

The sports science thing is different and is supposed to be a University/NHS collaboration.

I assume that City's contribution will largely be to provided the land although I may be wrong. All the above is in collaboration with the City Council and the Development Agency for the area (New East Manchester)

Interesting... Finished, or at least well under way, in 3-4 years eh? Can't be long before we see some plans then.
