Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

But 80% are ST holders. We could sell more of them leaving a similar amount of matchday tickets for purchase

Don't get why you quoted me - I was just referring to the guy calling any fans plastics - seemingly just because they don't share his idea of what going to match is about. Well that's what I meant!

I know this has been debated before on here and it will be interesting to see how th owners go with this.
It's been said that the Nou Camp and the Theatre of screams rarely sell out these days so why not have 5k or even 10k empty as long as there is another 10k on top of the 47 now.
Also, can we follow the German model and decrease (or hold at least)prices meaning more turn up. I wish I knew now!

Just so you know the Nou Camp does sell out, it sells out its allocated safe capacity. They were told years ago they were not able to fill to the max as a safety concern, although they have 10-15k sare seats every game it's not due to them not having the fan base.
The rags on the other hand - they're all jumping ship ;0)

Can't see anything new connected to City, they are doing the training ground aren't they?

I'm struggling to see anything too...

Re the roof, I get the impression he is talking about keeping the front of the roof where it is but raising the back, tilting it so the line of sight from the new, higher, stands would be similar to the sides.
Correct. Something like this will get us up to around 60,000 if both ends were done - might be enough, bigger than anything other than the swamp

If you were going to make a real statement with a stadium, it would be hard to do with just the stadium alone (in my opinion). Nice lighting, dramatic shapes... it's been done...

Maybe you'd have to be very off the wall and the stadium was something else too... a giant seaworld or some crazy hotel like the Burj Al Arab (Dubai)... obviously that's not feasible, but it would need to be quite spectacular to truly be the envy of the world.

Of course, if you just fancy cramming in 60K - then that's a purely functional issue, and can be done (for a cost)... it's just finding the right cost that's will feasibly give a return.

Personally I like the look of our stadium, but look 'grubby' in terms of exterior concrete finish. It could look much more spectacular with (maybe) more glass, or even wood / steel.
There is a need for more seats. An architectural statement is secondary

Tricky one that... it's not entirely clear (to me) how many more seats we could sell... it'll all exciting to imagine 60K (or more) but could we actually fill it?. I know lots will scream 'yes!' - but many talk out of their arse and don't actually think things through.
Plus, if we were to extend, 'getting it right' is another challenge.... you don't want to spend a fortune doing the work, only to need to extend again shortly after, or make that architectural statement later... you MIGHT choose to do both at the same time...

Right now, we seem to be selling out at 47K for prem games, but we didn't always sell out for CL (from memory) and certainly not for most cup games, including a league cup semi....
When you weigh up the benefits of extending you have to look at capacity across ALL games, and, it's important to keep as close to capacity as you can to keep prices higher and promote the perception of high demand.

From 47K to 55K might be within our reach.... 60K is quite a jump. I personally suspect we might need a couple more years of success before we can be comfortable holding our own with 60K.

I know fans that are already starting to be careful about which games they attend (primarily for financial reasons) and some of the previously 'glamorous' games are now not quite as high on the agenda... i.e. League Cup Semi, Charity Shield etc). It seems a pretty tight line City have to tread. Of course, I could be way wrong on that, and they can just hike the prices up as they see fit, and if some fans won't pay... a new, wealthier plastic fan will...

Just my opinion of course.

I agree with you but wouldnt it be great if the stadium was increased to 60k and prices were dropped for the lesser matches.

I wasn't calling Any fans plastics.
Everyone has their own way of supporting the club.

Personally, I'd rather be in an empty stadium with a small group of fans who would sing and cheer, rather than a packed out stadium where everyone is sat down, politely clapping and not singing.

But if it makes the club money having more seats then great - afterall it is a business.
I would however welcome Rail Standing, and a more accessible pricing structure for the Rail standing area.

The stadium needs balance, the solution is a rail standing section (like what's seen in clubs such as B.Dortmund and Wolfsburg) where we can stand and sing, lower ticket prices for these sections.

The day the atmosphere goes, is the day I go.

I'm hoping we hear some official news once the CEO starts work.

Pretty sure the Training Ground development and plans for the ground will be a priority
