Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

In this new video released on the OS today, at about 13.30 mins in a guy called Phil Ross who is director of a local building firm mentions his firms involvement with MCFC over the years and then appears to let slip about being involved in talks about stadium expansion plans but does not elaborate any further. May be nothing but just stood out.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

More likely this refers to conversion of Commonwealth Athletics venue to a football ground

The contract supplier's firm were extensively involved in the development of the stadium after the Commonwealth Games in 2002, helping to turn the athletics stadium into a fit-for-purpose Premier League football stadium

The new vid on the OS says it was where Indigo was invented. Hope its more of a reflection on Aguero than Joe Hart!!!

Thanks for that heads up.

John Stemp is the man.

Spoke to him a few few years back. Really nice guy. Come across really well. Had plenty of time for me. Answered lots of questions. Didn't give anything away mind. ;-)

He certainly doesn't give anything away - god knows I've tried hard enough! He is a really good bloke as you say.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Ok,now I am not an ITK however I was at Stoke with a good friend of mine who is a building engineer/MD for a large company. He told me that the club are wanting to make it 3 tiers all the way round after the training complex is complete. I asked him how he knew and he told me that a fellow MD for a building company that went in for the tender (but failed) for the training complex apparently had been given the heads up about this during bidding for the new site.

If this is true or not I have no idea but there you go.

The collar site and stadium is next according to some ITK´s on here as well so it might be correct info..

pure trivia, so no need to tell me, but one of the main products of the aniline was a pigment used by the textile industry to dye cloth Blue. Powerful stuff too, turned the seats on Maynes buses blue too. And the passengers clothes. and the washing on the lines of the neighbouring houses.
Just adding a bit of colour to the most interesting thread on the board

Off topic, and sorry for being pedantic (and possibly a little geeky), but it was/is a dye and not a pigment.

(Synthetic) Indigo was first made commercially viable in Germany not the UK, BASF - Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik....

In comparison, Spurs new training ground.

Various ics on the link page and last page.

Phase 1 of the collar site is due to be finished in 2016. Still not heard anything concrete on the stadium expansion completion dates apart from 3 - 4 years. I believe we are still awaiting the nod from HRH Mansour on the final design. Forget about the 3 tier idea as this hasn't been mentioned to my knowledge and the plans I have seen are certainly nothing like that. And trust me the club would not be giving anyone "heads up" on information until the contract was signed and sealed.
