Not sure what they will use it for but it is staying within the club
good, i hope they can find a use for it

Agreed, moving the whole club away from Moss Side just wouldn't seem right to me. Glad they are keeping this small link.

Yes i like this idea .

Slightly off topic.

Man City boss Sheikh Mansour adds to Barclays

Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, owner of Manchester City Football Club, has added to his position in Barclays.

Shrugging off the bank's recent troubles surrounding Libor manipulation, energy trading claims and a fine from the Spanish regulator over structured bond sales, Sheikh Mansour took his position in Barclays above the 7% mark, according to a stock market filing published late last night.

The transaction was logged as an 'acquisition of instruments' and left the Sheikh with an indirect Barclays holding of just over 6.1% and voting rights slightly above 7%.

Like the Sheikh's football side - which earlier this year lifted its first Premier League title in 44 years - Barclays shares have begun to return to form despite the bank's difficulties earlier this year.

Shares in the bank crashed 17% shortly after it was hit with a record £290 million fine for fixing Libor and the bank continued to trade sub-200p in the weeks that followed as senior executives left amid the scandal.

On Monday, however, the bank closed up 0.51% at 256.9p, a long way off its 148.2p 52-week low.http://www.citywire.co.uk/wealth-ma...arclays/a646310?ref=wealth-manager-home4-list

Remember last time Fly? Well?

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I thought Sheikh Mansour bought in cheap and then sold when they rose up again. Either way looks like some great business once again from him :)

Imagine if the dippers read this in the sun!
AGENDA!!! BARCLAYS!!! BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE!!! CONSPIRACY!!!!

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

ha ha ha - does this mean that our Sheikh is making EVEN MORE MONEY off the back of rags who have accounts with Barclay's?

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

JRB - I note that on SSC Manchester Metro area site on the City thread you are involved in a "discussion" about football finance with a United troll who is now "Un Uomo senza Nome", but who used to be "the Fly". I have noticed a similarity in expression between this character and a troll on the Telegraph who is noteworthy for his particularly virulent hatred of City's owners and, well, everything that is City. He went under the name of Fenshui but has developed as his hatred has grown and now glories in the name of "petitbourgeoisie", but he's actually still the same vitriolic blockhead we all...Both he and Fly seem to enjoy "teehee"ing in particular! Do you know if they are one and the same - or are there actually two such blockheads?

He sold a batch of shares making £2.25B a few years ago but maintained a small percentage

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Didn't Sheikh Mansour buy shares at the time the crash made Barclays look very dodgy indeed to strengthen their position and restore confidence. He is, therefore, the man who saved the western world!

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

The Libor fine caused Barclay's shares to fall a lot. The Sheikh obviously thinks their will be long term value so bought low again and will probably sell when the shares climb high again making another couple of billion or so - His expenditure on City is mere pocket change... [that must really waz off City haters.]

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

BTW, it looks like the club is going for a full third tier at each end with a new roof and re-designed drainage off the existing roof. It will be interesting to see how what the new structure looks like when it is built. i.e. - Will there be a large support structure next to the end spirals at each end of the ground that could be used to support a 4th tier in 20-25 years time.
