really nice stadium , never knew they had the money in the ukraine for infrastructure

Payed for by a local billionaire, no doubt ruining football in Ukraine...

Probably also had a fair amount of government money pumped in due to them co-hosting the 2012 European Championships with Poland.

Baring in mind every game was sold out last season, 7,000 won't take much filling. 14,000 probably would. But even then 5 or 6 years of sustained top 4 football would do the job and 10 years would leave the place bursting at the seams. For this reason, whatever they do now must be extendible by another 10-14 thousand in the medium term.

Let's be honest here - we were "sold out" in name only for a lot of games but there were plenty always available in viagogo, we are not yet at the stage where they're queuing round the block week in week out but 5 or 6 years of sustained top 4 football will definitely bring this about and is a must for us to continue to even get near the first expansion figure.
We have the set up and should be capable of maintaining this success but its still my opinion that an increase of around 30% in our regular match day attendance is some way off and more long term. I hope I am wrong and would love to see it full pretty soon after the addition of the first stage but overall that's why I think the owners are not doing it all at once.

So when we were awful to watch under SP we pulled in 45,000 and now we pull in nearly 47,805 and the full signs go up every week. So you reckon 2,805 extra is it? Dream on.
we could shift an extra 20% now (57,366) and if the price was reduced a tidge 25% (59,756). Viagogo only shows those who can't go to a few games - and most are sold on too. Add the newcomers & plastics on top of that and I reckon we could pull 70K in 10 years.

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME.

In 2006/7 we were pulling in 40-41,000 other than a couple of big games and there is a significant different in the cost of tickets now. Like I said, I hope I am wrong cos I would love to see it rocking with 60,000 but if it were my money paying for the rebuild, I would do it in stages too.

A question on the first expansion - will part of the ground be closed for a season (part of a season) while the stand development takes place, i.e. will our capacity be temporarily reduced?
Nothing has been mentioned regarding partial closure for new season tickets so I'm assuming not.

It has been speculated that the club would begin expansion of one end in January/February (prep work, scaffolding etc) and then during the 3 month off-season window from May, June, July, early August to do what ever they need to do with the roof without worrying about people and events. Rugby doesn't sell out and the concerts only require one end.

I remember the day after the Commonwealth Games finished the track was torn up and conversion work began straight away.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Looks like Soriano is discussing the expansion on the Fernandinho interview video on the OS.
You clearly see him 'virtually pushing' the ends of the stadium up with his crazy Spanish gesticulations when showing Fernandinho around.

If anybody can lip read/sign in Catalan/Spanish we might be onto something (from around 4:35 if interested)... :)

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Sorry for using this thread but i couldnt find the youth acadamy thread. Anyway City have signed Zackarias Faour from Malmo FF he is one of the best strikers in his age class in the world (15 years old) all the top clubs wanted him, United, Chelsea,Arsenal,Liverpool but he chosed City because our ambition and new acadamay where we not do like chelsea and sign alot of players but only the absolute top level best ones. He is tecnically awesome, amazing first touch and very strong and he score buttloads of goals.

So i guess the acadamy project start to give fruitration already

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Mr Ed the stables pointed this out as well in same interview pause it at 3.30 secs they are near the models of what I think are the main stadium and academy site but he thinks there may be something more some grey buildings can be seen and a circular stadium of some sort, I am assuming the main training facilty but could be wrong.

Yes when he has banged 30 goals in for the first team.

It is fantastic, the increased development in English footballing infrastructure. I would love to work for city as a coach one day, you just have to look at the plans and the area as it is being built at the moment just to realise how serious we are taking the issue and how incredible it will be.

Look at Lukaku, He scored 121 goals in 68 games for Lierse between 2004-2006 when he was 11-13 and then 131 goals in 93 games for Anderlecht when he was 14-17. Even at youth level that is impressive.
