Went up to the ground today to get the lovely white kit. Nipped over to Asda for a couple of bits and pieces and took a couple of snaps of the Minihad on my phone. Not in the same league as jrb's excellent stuff but thought I'd share nonetheless:

Good to compare our proposals with Barca's set up.. La Masia:

Good to see a picture of how daily life will pan out for our youngsters.

Wiki's entry:

La Masia houses about 60 players: 10 in the farmhouse, and the rest in rooms of the adjacent stadium; the rest of the youth players must provide for their own accommodation.[3][15] The academy is one of the most expensive in Europe, operating at a cost of £5 million a year. The main cost is the dormitory, La Masia itself.[15] The minimum age for the youth program is six years; each year, more than 1,000 boys from the ages of six to eight try out for admittance. The best 200 are selected.[16] The club also actively seeks for prospective students; it employs a system in which 15 scouts are deployed in Catalonia, 15 in the rest of Spain and 10 scattered throughout the world. To alleviate the expenses of this scouting, the club has an agreement with 15 local clubs for them to train players who are not ready for entry into the youth academy. In return, FC Barcelona gives money, coaching and technical advice to these clubs for their services.[17] While expanding its operations abroad, the club established five schools in Mexico and one in Egypt; successful applicants to these schools become full-time students, receiving academic education and football training.[18]

The more I read this thread, the more exciting it gets. It's truly fantastic to get an ongoing picture show of progress in this way. It is my favourite thread on the entire internet by some distance.

With the stadium so close to the road surely there'll be balls flying over the stand during a night match??

From the render at 1:05 onwards it looks as though no fences / big gap in stand.

It's Ok because Pep will have us playing tippy-tappy football in the future. 6 second rule.

this whole project is just breath taking!!

does anyone have any pictures of how the site looked before the COM stadium was built? and how its transformed over the last decade? its an amazing project!!

im hoping to bring my 7yr old son up to do the stadium tour sometime next year and he cant wait!

Google "Bradford Ironworks" and "Johnson and Nephew" that'll show you how far East Manchester has come. Used to go up there when my Dad worked up at Crossleys and it was all heavy engineering . . . amazing what a few decades can do.

I'm guessing they'll put nets up.

Fantastic giddy stuff of things we'd never dare dream about on this and the stadium thread.

We really will be the dog's bollox.

Must be my age but the pics of Maine Road made me think I'd pay good money to go back there for a couple of hours in all its splender.

Anyway roll on the revolution.

If 30 years ago someone had said 'One day City will have two stadiums and a training complex in Beswick, and a tramway will run from there into town', people would either have laughed their cocks off or wanted to have him certified.

The more you look back, the more amazing it all is.

There's some interesting aerial pictures here from the 1920s http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw009636 with a1930s map of the area here http://www.eastlandsblue.co.uk/eastlands map.htm which will give you an idea of what you're looking at.
The Bradford Iron Works is buried underneath the main stadium now.
