I was reading the Daily Fails report on the expansion ( I know, I know, I shouldn't but wanted to see if their take on it had changed) and the article was reasonably positive. I scolled down to the comments to read the plastic rags comments and they didn't disapoint. The usual council house, empty seats, buying success, no history crap with a few fellow blues and independents fighting the waves of bile !
I was going to leave a comment about the sheik could buy it (they will find out soon enough the enormity of what's comming) but couldn't be arsed.
Made me think though - it's well known that the money would go back down to London and the Governing bodies who actually funded it, in which case does the Council actually own the stadium or just has the right to say what happens to it as it is on their land?

Its a bit like having a mortgage.

You own the house but if you sell it you have to pay back the balance owed.

I love the 'Council House' tag. Used to ask a Rag united fan at work if he'd played the Lottery and when he had, I'd remind him that he'd just helped a little bit more with our new stadium. I've since told him that he's contributing to our wealth every time he fills his car up. Last time I saw him he told me the 'Arabs' would get bored now they've won the league! Yeah, o.k.

Gotcha. I wonder if the council have to repay it sometime in the future rather than only if it's sold ? Don't suppose so.
