I'd abit disapointed tbh, the italian league is abit of a footballing graveyard. if eto'o decided to play there then so be it but its not as good as the premier league. lets see if this is true or just paper talk

It makes you wonder how Italian clubs ever manage to win the CL, the Azzurri the World Cup, or even why their best managers, Ancelloti, Capello and Trappatoni are valued, successful and employed in Britain and Ireland.

Or why Italy is 4th in the FIFA rankings.

Or why Chelsea/we wanted Kaka, Chelsea Pato, Barça Ibrahimovic, Liverpool Lavezzi (though they have now denied interst, probably becaude Benitez will now have to trawl through the minor leagues due to a near-empty purse), we would like Chiellini.

exactly.... they are all getting the fuck out of it it seems

I very much doubt it!

Diego to Juve says differently.
Dzeko to Milan will do that too.

In the meantime, Italian clubs continually scout and source quality players a low prices, primarily from South America.

Look at a few examples.

Zidane. Kaka, Battistuta, Crespo, Cafu, Pato, Maicon.

Eventually they will sell on at a big profit and successfully mine the market for more of the same.

People are desperate to play in the EPL because of the £15,000 a day that they can trouser.

Even for mid table clubs

Do you seriously think Eto'o is coming to City, or even considering it?

Tevez and Santa Cruz would be great additions, but please don't benchmark any new signings against the bets players in the world, when we are not the best team in the world.

The benchmark should be the quality of our existing squad, and the additions that teams around us are making.
I really don't know how anyone can say Santa Cruz is a great addition, on any grounds, the benchmark should be to significantly improve and the forward line is weak thus simply being better than what we have got is not good enough. The question that should be asked is... Is this player someone that can push us into the top 6, clearly no. Is this player a player that can improve and contribute as we move up to that area of the league, again no. Can anyone honestly see RSC playing regularly for a top 6 side(let alone a top 4 side)?

I'm with Marvin, I don't think there will be a marquee signing or a "galactico"! We will buy proven quality and proven Premiership quality at that! Most of the rumours back this up...Tevez, RSC, Toure, Lescott etc... They will improve the team and if we signed them four along with the aquisition of Garry Barry then we would have to say that our squad is miles better than last season! All this bollocks about Eto'o, Kaka, Villa, Aguero is exactly that!

we would get players like that at a young age if we could get work permits for them ! italy get them because they aren't as stringent as the uk ! russia is the same, cherry picking all the best young south americans like pato. and you may stick up for serie A but even the italian media and top chiefs at football clubs are saying the league is in decline, the football stadiums are falling down around their ears and they struggle to fill them or generate the funds to compete with la liga and the premier league

dzeko has had one good season, he is no Kaka, same with diego, they aren't all that

Zidane left, now Kaka has left, Crespo left but now is back to end his career, Pato sounds like he wants to leave

you say eventually they will sell on at a big profit, which is what i was getting at, if they get chance, they seem to leave, if it wasnt on a decline then they would stay, and the draw would be to italy rather than to england or spain

Agree with you for most of it and if Tevez, RSC, Toure and Lescott all came to City we would have a much better squad but I still think we are looking at the prospect of a big signing that would push us even further!

I Think We Have A Genuine Chance to sign Eto'o. I definately think he will move on anyway. He's one everything he can at Barcelona twice, agent has come out and said a transfer is a possibility, and also he has spoken out about the racism aimed towards him.... he won't get that in the Prem.

IMO, Ibra is worth as much as Kaka at least. A "swap" deal with Eto'o won't happen because Eto'o's only worth around 15 million with 12 months left on his contract. If that.

On top of that, I can't imagine Jose sanctioning the sale of Ibra when he spent all of last season saying he is the best player he has ever coached...
