So let me get this right, if Barca pay 13Mil to Eto'o he will stay? So instead of making the 25Mil to fund Villa they are going to splash 13Mil of their tight xfer budget. Doesnt add up to me.

No i think it's the other way round. Eto'o is threatening to stay if they don't pay him the £13m loyalty bonus. The loyalty bonus is something you receive if you get sold without actually asking for a transfer.

IMO he basically wants this money so he will call Barca's bluff. I think the press conference tommorrow is in a way, a deadline for Barca to stump up the money. If they don't, then he might stay...or if it becomes obvious to us that he will stay we might even come in and offer him a little something something.

Just can't see us letting it go tits up after it's gone public (i know barca leaked it).

A very big point that seems to have been missed

Laporte announced yesterday (28th june) that Eto'o had recieved a 'stratospheric' offer from City and that it would be difficult for him to refuse it.

Then today (29th June), its announced by SSN that City have officially placed a £25 million bid.

Surely this cant be correct, I can't for one minute believe that City have only just placed a bid and that they were allowed by Barca to talk to the player and give him a firm salary offer, Barca must have accepted City's offer some time ago and then offer Eto'o his wages etc.

I open for someone to point this out differently, however i believe that this deal has already been concluded some time ago, bar the signiture and that City have now given permission to drip feed the media.

I am no ITK, just a little bit of deduction dear Watson.

I reckon we'll see what happens with Eto'o and Barca before deciding on getting involved. I think SpursMad was saying it was done 100% just needed a few things sorting out between Barca and Eto'o. Imo this is what needed sorting and again imo it will get sorted.

I think we are worried about looking like mugs by paying way over the top for players but again imo we've brought that on ourselves by splashing big money on Bellamy, RSC and Bridge. Paying another £13m for Eto'o shouldn't even be an issue if it's going to propell us forward a good couple of years in terms of success - but like i said before i reckon we'll only step in if it becomes 100% obvious that Barca and Eto'o can't agree a settlement.
