My Grandad was Irish so I've always got a soft spot for Ireland. Tbh felt more for them than I would for England if they were in the same position for the reasons you've just given.
It's made up of average - above average players who so happen to be in the press all the time because of the teams they play for. Thing is though the majority of the reasons their clubs are in the press for is because of what the foreigners have done for those teams. England are shit, and that there is a fact and one worth noting. It took me years and thousands of pounds to realise that.

That was still for me the best goal of the season, but largely because I turned to my mate just before the free kick was taken and said "Just pass it to Silva, he'll duck, he'll weave, he'll score". My mate still maintains he weaved then ducked, but I was still well impressed :D
