Thought we did well, Marvin. Hosts in their own back yard and we get a win in a crucial match. Happy with that!

sorry but england are absolute gash, it would be a travesty to football if they went any further, we are like a lower division side scraping results through sheer bloody mindedness

we are putting the effort in thats the only positive thing you can say

its actually embarrassing that on a world stage we have sunk this low

Agreed, Balotelli is gonna sink our mighty nations team and be public enemy number 1 for another season

I can see another Rooney/Ronaldo 2006WC type incident. Balotelli will probably wink at someone, and it will be blamed for England getting knocked out.

Feel sorry for Milner

Is he a wide player really??

But, he is doing the job asked of him - as the utter professional that he is.

Ask Glen Johnson who he would like to have playing in front of him - I'm sure the work rate of Milner would make him Johnson's choice.

As for the national side - credit to Hodgson who has got a group of players - some with massively inflated egos - playing and working as a team and I like that.

3 more scrappy, shitty 1-0 wins and England have won the thing.... I'll take that!!

Milner isn't a wide player, He is always at his best in the middle of the field, When he was with Villa he played centre midfield and was excellent and when he plays in the middle for us he's always good. Although he always does a good job for us whether it's out wide or central.

Personally I think it should be Milner alongside Gerrard, With either AOC or Walcott on the wing.

it aint going to happen, i wouldnt even entertain the thought, the biggest favour to english football would have been if we had lost all three games, i can only hope that italy batter us and some people see common sense

"common sense"

Yeah, how dare football fans dream, eh......... lets hope Joe Hart, Joleon Lescott and James Milner never read some of this thread!!

(And I know Balotelli plays for City, but push comes to shove I'd rather Joe kept a clean sheet than Mario bag a hat trick)

the point being that since 1996 we have had 16 years of england playing 442 with no thought of what it takes to be a decent standard international team, we just dont learn, if we manage to scape past italy and get beat in the semi's everyone will be saying we did well

what follows? two years playing in a shit group going to the world cup, failing again, blame the weather, a dodgy penalty, players being tired then do it all over again, its like groundhog day

Gerrard is sooooo miserable, totally uninspiring, I understand why Capello never rated him as a true Captain.

I prefer John Terry as Captain.

There I've said it!

I think Terry had a good game. He lacks real pace but his positioning is excellent, he made numerous interceptions and cleared (suspiciously) off the line. Not everyone is a fan of his but I think he will go down as a world class defender.
