Europa Draw

Maritimo Funchal could be another trawler trip for some. Another distant Island.

If you want. Funchal is about 8 times further a trip though, so you better leave yesterday.

I must say there are some mouthwatering destinations, sunshine and City would be good, maybe Cyprus, Turkey or Madeira..

Do they have a Netto near the station for cheap beer

Cheap beer is certainly not a problem in Russia!

By the way, that Christian Larsson (FreddieBoswell7) chap on Twitter, a football scout who seems to have an interest in obscure European football, reckons that the easiest draw would be The New Saints, HJK Helsinki or Lausanne and the teams who could provide an unexpected banana skin are Karpaty Lviv, Trabzonspor, Tavriya Simferopol and Timisoara.

-- Fri Aug 06, 2010 6:29 am --

Plus I think with Olympiakos going out, City will definitely be in Pot 2 IF they qualify for the groups.

Bert's site now confirms that we're provisionally in pot 2 if we get through: http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seedel2010.html. That assumes that the seeded team will win in every UEFA Cup and Champions League play off, so we could still drop out depending on the results of the Champions League qualifiers.

The odds are pretty strong that we'll be in pot 2. For us to miss out, there would have to be more shocks in 8 Champions League qualifiers where the seeded team has a higher rating than us than in the 20 Europa League play offs involving teams with a higher seeding than us.

You have to beat the best to become the best.

I don't care if we get Juventus, PSV and PSG. Bring it on I say.

I cannot wait for those cold Thursday nights in December freezing my arse off watching the Blues!!!

The people who decided to include champs league dropouts should be shot, ridiculous concept that helps to devalue the competition.
The seeding aspect should be looked at too, sides should be seeded on their league placing from last season only.

agreed nothing else whets the appetite there
also noticed we are back up into pot2 in league stages provided we get through and there are no shocks in the champs play offs

It doesn't matter if there's a shock or not.... we won't stay in pot 2 as Dinamo Kiev & Sporting Braga have better co-efficients than us and they are not seeded....... so it looks like it's back to Pot 3, but then I don't think it matters that much imo
