European away games ticketing policy

There clearly needs to be some reward for loyalty, but in my view, there needs to be some system to allow younger fans the opportunity to go to away games as well. Maybe a 60% tickets going on loyalty points and 40% in a ballot would be fair?

I think the mistake a lot of people with high loyalty points make, is that they assume anyone with less points than them isn't as dedicated or as "loyal" and is less deserving of getting tickets.

I don't think that's true. A lot of blues would go to every away game if they had access to a ticket, but because they are so far behind on points, it's impossible to catch up. That's not fair on a young blue out of school who wants go to away's, it's not his fault he was 8 when the loyalty points system was introduced.

A lot of blues get to aways by abusing the supporters club system. Sorry if that's inconvenient, but it's true. A lot of blues get tickets off touts, and a lot of blues get hold of away tickets through sponsors and contacts at the club. Getting tickets in these ways and attending is no less "loyal" than buying through the traditional channels, but their loyalty isn't rewarded with the points.

It's a never ending cycle, the people with loads of points get further and further ahead, and the blues who want away tickets but can't get them through the traditional route fall further and further behind.

There is no fail safe system that will please everyone, but the current system isn't working and is just going to lead to our fan base getting older and older and we could lose the next generation of match going blues.

I don't think many disagree with the principle, the issue is with the implementation, It is unacceptable to ask people who have already paid £50 for a ticket, incurred travelling and hotel expenses and taken time off work, to then queue for a couple of hours in the rain. In any other world, the though of having your paying customers inconvenienced in this way is incomprehensible. I'm sure some of our older or less mobile fans could make a case under disability rights or age concern because attending a football match should not involve standing for 2 hours in the rain.
Isn't

isn't going to a game supposed to be a fun positive experience
Seems like we're going back to the 70's 80's when if you were a football fan you were a hooligan. Surely we have to look after fans better than this. From a security point of view I don't think it's ideal all the fans being in 1 place like this if the opposing fans were hostile. They would be an easy target.

dress it up all you like but truth is points and tickets have been available and ignored by all but the keenest of fans for years. they now have the reward for that keenness whereas the moaners who sat on their arse now want equal billing. well they can fuck right off.

Exactly most people on top points probably didn't even realise they were getting points for away and home cup games 10 years ago they've only become "fashionable" the last 5/6 years

The club have issued a statement, wavering ticket collection at bar a,and also big to enable us to get free travel in Germany,so they have listened and reacted positively.they're going to review it for the start of next season, don't know what that will involve.well done mcfc
I applaud the club here they've listened but people cursing about the possibility of ballot are the same people who will have criticised the current system can't do right for wrong it seems

correct. the points then, like now are irrelevent. a by product of enjoying a hobby.

You couldn't make this up..
So i might be back to square one ref my point criteria but people who have over 18000 points might not get one if a ballot is introduced in the future.
As iv'e paid along with others who are on my points total for the Barca game i will be contacting the club for a refund of any monies outlayed if a ticket is not forthcoming for the game.
You wont have a problem mate more chance of City giving you a bell see if you fancy anymore.

So somebody who was 5 in 2003 (when the system was introduced) and now is 18, with his first paid job and is now allowed to travel to away games should not have any chance of going to away games so the dads army can use there discounted railcard?

Its stopping a whole generation of blues watching City away. Small percentage in a ballot and weighted loyalty points based on recent attendance is the fairest way.

its actually quite funny that whilst watching some of the most dire football ever we were ensuring a seat in the best stadiums and best sides in the world.
