European away games ticketing policy

They're probably fucking working. How many can take two or three days off during the week at short notice? Great if you can but most can't.

This actually proves how much of a problem points whoring was.

He was being sarcastic about the points whores pal - they're not point whores if they're at the game are they?

If people were hoping to be able to go to this game and allowed themself enough annual leave then 2 weeks before the holiday (in the majority of instances) is more than enough time to request a couple days off.

I agree it's an issue that City need to sort out, leaving the sale and allocation of tickets so late doesn't help anyone, both financially or taking time off work.

As soon as the draw is made why can't they deal with allocation and sale of tickets, I believe Leicester have done this and it's worked a dream?

Its been claimed that they wait until corporates, players and staff have decided how many they want.

Even if true, they could still put an initial allocation (say 70% ) on sale

Good to see the club has scrapped the collection policy for the next 2 Euro aways. They have obviously taken recent feedback on board.

Does anyone think the club will let me collect the tickets in person at the Everton game rather than having them posted out? I haven't ordered yet.

Couldn't agree more. Just like the 3rd time we played Bayern and we took about 1,000.

Where are all the 'young people' (I'm 28!!) who can never go because they haven't got the points to get tickets? Surely there's a giant queue of them?

I've got some mates going who thought they would have to be in the Barca end. They can go in the City end now if they are prepared to accept the shit view forceful policing.

So the tickets situation ain't so bad after all lol. Barca won't sell out and anyone with 9k points will be able to go to the League Cup derby lol!

After paying stupid money, just to watch subbuteo through a wire mesh, occasionally interrupted by a gang of idiots fighting amongst themselves, (in neck-stiffening gale force temperatures), I've finally decided that enough is enough.

Bollocks to the points. I'm going in the Barca end, just like I did for the pre-season friendly when Petrov scored

Yet Barca has no collection. Today you can get return flights £70 from Birmingham £60 from london and tickets on general sale from Monday.
So where are all these people who moaned about the system not being fair as they couldn't get tickets?
Clearly a lot just want to pick and chose their games and only moan about games they miss out on and this is why they wont catch up with the so called points whores who flog their tickets for every game. The points whores will be in barca a lot of the people moaning its not fair clearly wont

The demand for tickets is a lot less. The points whores aren't buying them as they won't be able to shift them. Do you not think there's previously been a large number selling on tickets for European away games? Explain to me how the criteria dropped significantly after they introduced the collection.

Perfect explanation of barca away !! LoL

Demand is not high as it is the 3rd time in 3 calendar years - no longer a once in a lifetime trip, just as demand is low for Swansea away these days after being very high in 2012.

The Barca experience including view and treatment by police, plus the idiots it attracts with or without a ticket, just is not worth it. Of course lots of people share season tickets these days also, and therefore a lot of them would expect not to be able to get in also compared to the last 2 times. However the main reason for much lower demand is knowing it is very poor value for money.

Lets say they do stop an application to SC, what effect do you think it will have for the club's ?

I answered your last question. What happens to you answering mine or do different rules apply to the anti supporters club brigade?

I will answer you any way. Do you think a lifelong Stretford Blues like myself would be put off by missing a game lol. I use to walk to Maine Road when I couldn't afford the bus fare.

The away tickets aren't really aa big deal to the Supporters Club I am in. I pointed this out before as you know. We have 60 season card holders and got two tickets for Glasgow Celtic. I tried to give up my ticket to the Head of our Supporters Club but he was too decent to accept it.

I hope this helps your undertaking.

this description of barca away is perfect!!!

Bunch of part timers :)

Yes I've already posted this . I booked on the hope I'd get tickets under the new scheme not that I think it's perfect but now there is a chance people on a lot less points will get tickets instead of me .

I am only on page 32 of this thread so a lot of points will have been made that I have not seen yet but the last couple of pages have made me smile - with a lot of those moaning in the previous 32 pages now moaning about the possibility of a ballot.

Just goes to show that no matter the righteous indignation, like everyone else on this thread, they just want what is best for them.

FWIW I would be totally against a ballot, almost to the level that I am utterly against the ‘previous system’, now retuned to, which sees people with a low points total attend matches at the expense of fans that have shown loyalty for many years.

There are of course blues on here of longer-standing than me – but not many. I also have a good points total, but not as high as I could perhaps have due to having to take a couple of years out for personal reasons.

I therefore fully accept that blues with nowhere near my level of ‘overall’ following in the last 50 years have a higher priority in the loyalty points system – that’s life.

What I cannot accept is that proper JCLs jump ahead of me because they get tickets from someone that ’maintains’ a high points total through basically cheating the system.

So queuing up in Kiev, Madrid, Celtic etc. was inconvenient but that new system was at least fair and that is evidenced by the fact that the level to qualify went much lower than previously. I do agree that the process needs changing / improving, but we should not be going back to the old one.

Just watch now as the tickets sell out at a higher level meaning that many loyal and long-standing fans miss out in favour of proper JCLs.

As I said – I would be totally against a ballot – but most systems would be better than the old one.

If it now goes to a ballot we've surely only ourselves to blame the system was flawed for ticket collection and deserved criticism but a ballot would be worse

Totally agree.

I really hope that does not happen - could you imagine the pelters on here if someone with 18-20000 points missed out!!

Mind you - and I only say this light-heartedly - they might have more empathy for those with 13-14000 that miss out through the current / old system.

Very true pal.

So, for the last twenty years the wife and I have travelled to each and every game that money and work have allowed. We have during that time gained a fair number of of points which has now enabled us to get tickets for every game we want to travel to. In the earlier days we missed out out on games, but so be it, we still managed over time to get into the position we are now. Our weekends, week days are made up of following City home, away and in Europe as often as possible. It's what nine months of the year we do, we don't go out often, we don't pay for sky TV, following City is our pastime and has been for me as long as I can remember and with the missus since we met. We make big sacrifices to do so. If we have to go into a ballot where one of us may get a ticket and the other not it will completely ruin it for us. We have done and are still doing the miles and paying the money I don't want to stop just yet. You can call me selfish but we have earned our right to be near the top of ladder and I want to stay there for the moment. In a few years we may decide to stop, then others who put the effort in will deservingly take our place.

It is just plain common sense that any new system must ensure those with high points get a ticket - providing they are using it for themselves.

I cannot see how any fan can question that right.

What is unfair is buying them to pass on - causing someone, also with a lot of points, to miss out in favour of someone without the required points.

The level to which required points dropped following introduction of ticket collection shows how big an issue this is

Spotchecks are the way to go with strong penalties for anyone caught touting, perhaps a 12 month away match ban. That would be enough of a deterrent to any points whores without penalising the genuine loyal hard core. It would be a disgrace if those who have amassed points watching City for decades lost out in a ballot. Surely what would happen is lots of people would apply in the ballot and then sell their ticket on anyway.
Seems simple enough to me - they could do the same for domestic games as well. ok people will not have their passport but they have details of ticket holders so could cross-reference

No one can argue against both posts, although I am sure some will. Having posted this I now await my next thread ban.
