European away games ticketing policy

The fairest system I’ve seen suggested is the one like the UEFA coefficient, where points are worked out over a 5 year rolling system.

Maybe City could introduce something similar and give extra points for supporters who attended historically significant matches?

Other clubs have rolling points systems. Spurs def have it over 3 or 5 yrs and they publish a table showing how many fans are at each level of points.
Think Everton do similar

Seconded re no ballots.
It doesn't even work as Utd have found and they are trying now to counter the problems with it by having X % of people collect on the day.
Utd get 10k applying for every ballot. No one expects to get more than 4 or 5 aways a season from the ballot & so they all apply for every game and if they get lucky either use it or sell it on to mates. That's what the reds at my work do. What's the point of that process. It's way worse than what we've got now.

Wish City would provide a list of all aways last season, which ones sold out, and at what point level for each game. Be a few surprised people on here I'd think. I know we didn't sell out everywhere and a fair few others went to open sale I seem to recall.
@squirtyflower will have everything you need to know there

No one has a 'god-given' right no, but I accept that if someone has more ticket points than I do, they have more of a right to a ticket than me. They have earned that right over time.

I accept its flawed as young people will never catch up, so as I have previously suggested - I think a fairer system would be to introduce a cycle whereby the people who have attended every European game in the last 3, 4, or 5 years get first priority, and if you've not been to one in that time you get last priority.
Genuine question how would you know who has been to what euro always as proof of buying the ticket doesn't mean that person went ?

Yes I've already posted this . I booked on the hope I'd get tickets under the new scheme not that I think it's perfect but now there is a chance people on a lot less points will get tickets instead me .

I'm in exactly the same boat for this now. Barca will probably go to general sale so no need for ticket collection but not sure about BMG. Last year I just missed out due to the points whores and looking like the same may happen again

You mean like the league cup game at Torquay in 1983 that thrilling nil nil should guarantee me a ticket for the champions league final.

you're right Barca I can't see selling out and I thought BMG would go below 11k at least i'm fortunate to have enough points to qualify regardless doesn't stop me feeling for those on 11k to 12k who may miss out. be very interesting to see at what level Gladbach now sells out at.

I'm not sure this will make too much difference. The flight prices have risen significantly since the draw was made so I can't see too many changing their plans just because the ticket collection has been cancelled.

Does the rethink mean Chisholme is out of a job as his plan failed miserably at Celtic and with most people
staying in Duss and Kolne for Gladbach it was going to turn into another farce.

That is an issue, but it would be the same with a ballot and going forwards and whatever they introduce - we're still going to have to collect in the destination or prove travel arrangements in advance to prevent abuse of the system.

Thankfully the points have been given to the right person since Kiev, so straight away you have 5 games where the ones with no intention of going to games will have missed out. Maybe the first season its just done on games attended since Kiev, and then work its way up to something reasonable like 3-5 years.
