European Super League | ECJ rule that UEFA and FIFA acted unlawfully in blocking Super League (p 29)

Someone was saying earlier that this is what the American owners want. Who do I listen too/believe ?
The Yanks may "own" these clubs, but they aren't these clubs. If the fans walk, they collapse.

Granted the majority of club's money comes from TV rights & sponsorships, but that's based on a product, & a huge part of that is packed stadia, with rival fans creating an atmosphere.

We saw how dry & odd football became when it restarted during the pandemic. Sports broadcasters even started simulating crowd noises, because football became like watching a training session.

The fans have, & always will have the ultimate power. We just need to remind ourselves of that & use our power wisely.

Can't argue with any of that, except that any PL club on its own could challenge FFP legality in the courts. The usual suspects would have no say in it.
Yes they could, however Dupont challenged it on behalf of agents, & a fans group challenged it on their own behalf, & nothing came of it.

FFP's an agreement between UEFA & the member associations who actually make up UEFA.

Essentially, the associations would be challenging themselves, if that makes sense.

Does this ruling mean we can reclaim the fine we paid for being part of the group that were going to form the ESL?

When I give up on City I’ll give up on football. 50 years of being a blue, I’m City till I die.

Lower league? Someone else’s team. Would rather watch paint dry.
Good for you.
Competing in the English league and cup structure is the top priority for me. The CL and all the rest of it is just extra fizz.
Take the main prop away and replacing it with somthing different is just not the same. It just wouldn't be City without competing in the English League and Cup structures.
Let's be honest the government will NOT allow teams to depart for pastures new and coexistence won't be allowed to happen either.
It's UEFA +FA accredited leagues or ESL - not both.
The ESL on it's own is just a bottle if coke with very little fizz.
I'd give up the Season Ticket for sure if it happened. (It won't)

My understanding is that it was challenged in court at the time by one of the Spanish clubs who won and the fines were never paid.

I may be mistaken but there's a certain red team of scouse cunts that haven't distanced themselves at my last checking. If we'd have gone the day silent, you could have powered the world on the boiled piss
Yes but, don't forget they're European Royalty ( in the sense that they've rampaged across said continent thieving, murdering and abusing the place just like European Royalty from days gone by) so they will be above all this and feel no comment is necessary. Don't forget too - they're not English.

Mate, the battle is dead before it's even started. The UK government has already stepped in saying the new independent regulator will stop all English teams from joining the SL.

The only way City could circumnavigate that would be to leave the PL & FA, & essentially become an independent entity playing a maximum 20 games per season in the SL.

This raises the other issue that it's the PL who're registered with UEFA, not City. If the UK government backed UEFA & FIFA, City would essentially be left with only SL games to play, & then UEFA & FIFA could apply the ultimate sanction.

The players involved in this breakaway league won't be allowed to compete in any of their competitions, including the Olympics, Euro's & the World Cup.

This move alone would kill the SL.
That is what people need to realise, FIFA ultimately organise ALL Association Football, from the Jules Rimet final to the Under 10's game in the park tomorrow morning.
By joining a super league out with the FIFA umbrella you are leaving association football, not just the first, but the club, at all levels.
And that's before UEFA & FIFA ban any competing players from their competitions, including the Euro's, Olympics & the World Cup.
Not just those competing in the new league, but any and all involved in the club playing outside the FIFA umbrella (play for the Under 17's in an expelled club, expect to be banned from playing for your school etc)

I think the realisation of this will hit those supporting the ESL very soon.

Everyone has stayed away from discussing this aspect, which suggests FIFA is keeping its powder dry.

Both Barça & Real sound desperate right now. They're desperate for the ESL to save their Galacticos model, which flies in the face of their FFP insistence which has stiffed Barça in particular.

It's not lost on me that both want the ESL, but also want to retain FFP as a way of keeping ambitious hopefuls at bay.

It's also not lost on me that we've heard nothing from Juvé, Milan, Inter, the Dippers, nor Arse regarding this ruling, or their intentions regarding the ESL.

I reckon if they don't commit to UEFA, FIFA will ban the clubs & their players from their competitions & that will be the end of it.

For whatever reason, elite players still hold international football in high regard, albeit players are complaining about the amount of football they're being made to play.
