Evan Ferguson

The only reason why we monitoring him is so we can plan in case for whatever reason Haaland is either long term injury or will leave the club.

It's very unusual for an 18-year old striker to be performing at the level he is in the PL. The last one to be performing at a higher level was Rooney. He may not be a total freak like Haaland but I'd be surprised if he doesn't develop into a 20-25 PL goals a season striker.
In terms of age and scoring, Kelechi Iheanacho was outperforming Ferguson. Ferguson maybe a little younger when he broke into the team, but his stats aren't even close to Iheanacho's breakthrough season.

Kelechi was 18 at the start of the 15/16 season and scored 14 goals at a rate of one ever 86 minutes. Ferguson is now on 14 at a goal every 117 minutes.

Perhaps. But he just looks the part of a future menacing striker.

I had a feeling someone might mention Kelechi. Ferguson has more PL goals at the same age in a worse team.

It's close in terms of age - Ferguson a little younger, but Kelechi had a better record in the same number of minutes.

As for the 'worse team', I'd agree if it were pretty much anyone apart from Brighton.

Since De Zerbi arrived, which is the period Ferguson has been playing, Brighton have taken more shots than any other team in the Premier League. And these aren't pot shots from outside the box - their xG since he arrived is second only to ourselves, and it's not far off, which suggests that Ferguson is getting pretty much the same quantity and quality of chances as he'd get at City.

Obviously they're the highest scorers this season, but since the start of last season, Liverpool have just a single goal more than Brighton, and Arsenal and City are the only teams who have scored more.

Kelechi on the other hand played most of his games the season before Pep arrived when City scored just 71 goals - less than Brighton last season.

This is the type of player the GPC would have bought back in the day.
Doing great things for his age etc but I wonder what alverez would be thinking reading city’s interest in this guy.
As someone else has said it will be a plan b
In case erling fucks off to Madrid.

. . .and guess who's got to (try to) defend against them after the break ?

I think this lad looks class for his age and there's no way he will stay at Brighton.

Personally, I don't think we've room for him though. Haaland is simply the best striker not just in the world, but probably for the last decade if not more. He will win multiple Ballon D'Ors. Even if he got injured, Alvarez is more than a suitable understudy.

I think he's likely to end up at United or Liverpool, maybe Chelsea. He's definitely a very, very good player but sadly for him he won't be needing a very big trophy cabinet! :)

Alvarez is more than a suitable understudy

Yeah I don't doubt that but how long before he gets pissed off with being an understudy. The guy has won a world cup but still on the bench

What's the story about him dropping out of the Ireland squad because if he plays 2 more games he won't be able to play for England. His Mum is English. Is it BS?

He cannot change allegiances now as he has played too many games now for ROI as friendlies do count. I have checked the small print in FIFAs rules .

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_eligibility_rules It Is a long read

He could switch. If he makes one more competitive appearance he can't, but he won't switch.

He is just injured.

September 2020, the 70th edition of the FIFA Congress approved a rule change that now allows players to switch if they have played no more than three competitive matches at senior level prior to them turning 21 including no appearances in FIFA World Cup finals matches or continental finals (e.g. the UEFA European Championship). However, appearing in a tournament qualifier would not.[31][32][33][34] Furthermore, players who played for their home country but not at senior level, who were under 21 at the time and have since lived in a new country for five years or more can apply for the right to represent their new place of residence.[35] This also applies to players that began living on the territory before the age of 10 for at least three years.[36]
