Everton (A) | Game Postponed

They would be wrong in every instance. It's nothing to do with how many players available, it's all
to do with who could be infected and could transmit the virus to others. Listen, the people at Everton are not idiots and have very professional medical personnel themselves. This is just the media trying to drum up a shit storm.
Everton added to this with their badly worded statement

This is the point they're all missing. The hysterical fan's of other club's I can understand as they're mainly thick knobs, but the gobshite media should know better and be more responsible. They won't though because they will use every sly underhand trick in the book to.paint us as the bad guys, even a worldwide pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands. That's the sort of scum they are. I hope every Blue reminds them.of that fact whenever and wherever they bump into one. We played a game with two first team.players isolating but now it has spiked We totally did the right, the moral and the responsible thing by not taking the chance of spreading it further. End of story..

For f**k sake!....

Really fuck em.

Everton are within their rights to see the reason for the decision as it was at such short notice. And the PL will probably tell Everton that they are in unusual and unique times and risk of contagene of Everton players was the reason for cancellation. Its plain to see there is no advantage to be gained by us having a fixture pile up. All the City fans on hear getting over excited about Everton's club statement is over the top, I just read Everton's statement and its a reasonable request.
Why make the “request” public? Why did they not wish the infected well?

At worst it is suggesting we are pulling a fast one at best it shows a lack of class,

Look at this look at this muppet's take on it, complete with the City payroll conspiracy started by the Whatsapp group:

Ridiculous post and implies someone who is on man city payroll. Newcastle handled it with class unlike City. Everton is right to request the report and if negative test comes up the game should be played Thursday unless over 14 are out.

It seems the common argument against City in response to this, is the time frame makes it different to the Newcastle one. So they're saying "Newcastle had the decency to give them more warning, shame on City for surprising them with this"

Deary me, if weren't about something so serious, I'd laugh at how stupid their thought process is. Surely everyone knows now, that they are tested frequently and they get the results back within 48 hours of taking them. 48hours is what it takes for the general public so it's probably less that that for PL clubs. The PL were also made aware of positive COVID results on Friday, 48hours earlier. That shows City are doing things right, from their side of it.

If Everton were not kept in the loop, that is on the PL but City's statement suggests they assumed Everton were made aware, as soon as the PL knew. Surely they told them they were assessing it straight away, including any appeal, if there was one. If not, then that is a valid gripe. However, if the suggestion is that Everton had any say, once the PL were given medical advice, over the PL's own board, then that is ludicrous. Both Manchester City and Everton have to respect whatever final decision is made by the PL board ultimately, they'd be the ones in the shit, if things escalated from there.

Is there any point in telling people like that where they have gone wrong though? These idiots don't really care either way, any excuse to point the finger at something/someone they don't like. It's human nature though sadly, just like how people never really grow out of enjoying other people being in trouble/getting a bollocking a little too much, they just evolve it(very evident in twitter outrage culture).

edit: As for City's appeal, if that's what happened, then even that looks to have been validated. The PL received medical advice on how to handle it, according to their official statement.

Not pleased then bud?
His post is OTT, but then the statement issued by your club really missed the mark so you can see why that might occur to a fan base that’s been the brunt of snide attack after snide attack from the press and other clubs, both at home and abroad.

As a club, as a neutral to your team, I think Everton generally get it very right. Lots of common sense, not doing the Liverpool thing etc. This time a public statement was really poorly thought through. There’s more people in hospital than the previous peak of the virus when the league was canned for 3 months. It’s only going to get worse. It’s by far the best approach to see what the actual impact is on the City squad, both staff and players before having another game because the number of cases has risen since the last test.

All clubs can make bad PR decisions. City certainly cock stuff up. Today Everton didn’t get it quite right. Say the stuff about crap levels of information from the PL in private correspondence and instead wish those impacted a speedy recovery. But when people are dying in scores, keep the public message on point.

Looking at the situation in the lower leagues this is a key moment in the balance between COVID and football. It will take one maybe two more premier league clubs to have outbreaks like ours and a league postponement is on the cards.
If that happens it will fuck up the league and its precious tv companies!

What might make sense to ask is why have the City players' names not been released? We now hear Ederson (who else)

I am not suggesting Everton are saints here AT ALL, but I wonder if they feel:

1) The total players City would have out for the game would NOT be enough to postpone the game

2) City waited until the last minute to announce the cases and then be vague because they knew this would allow for a postponement

3) City are doing this basically because they would have lost several key players at the very last minute which would put them at a disadvantage in a huge game but they agreed to the rules for COVID so they should have to deal

Am I missing anything else?

I can also list critiques of ALL 3 of these views.
You definitely don’t need to know the name of the player if they don’t want to be revealed. All reports said 3 players plus 2 previous so there is no basis for postponement that is just 5 players out of a 25 man squad.

So you don’t think 7 cases in a 3 day test interval is enough to investigate why the number is increasing?

Why should city be scared of everton. Walker and Jesus were already out, the rumored names were Ederson, Cancelo and ferran. Maybe cancelo is the only problem because there is no other right back but if we are a serious team then we should still beat them.

There are no conspiracy theories, from advice by medical personnels the best solution was to postpone the fixture, no one is trying to gain any competitive advantage.

Bein sports have supposedly said your request to postpone the game was initially rejected then you appealed.

Im wondering if Everton have been informed of the rejection and told by the PL that the game was going ahead as normal (prob due to the stupid 14 available players rule) then all of a sudden at 4pm got told it was off.

Im sure more will come out on this either way but its unusual for us to put something out like that without something in it - we arnt usually petty.

Anyway im sure more will leak out soon and we will either be justified in calling out the PL or look a bit knobish.

Whatever has gone on behind the scenes at least the right call has been made. Other fans screaming forefit need to remember that this could happen to them at some point soon.

I'm wondering if Bein, Sky, BT and whoever else has broadcasters has a brain at all.

The game isn't important, the pandemic and handling it is, a fact lost on all the media, broadcasters and whatever else.

City should be applauded for not wanting to put Everton players, staff & fans at risk, instead there's a nonsense conspiracy being sprouted instead or pushed.

Football isn't important, it isn't life or death even at times it feels that way.
