Everton (A) | Game Postponed

I'm not a lawyer but I assume there's a legal precedent here too. Had the PL let this go ahead and it turns out after City's next tests that there's a full scale outbreak going on at the club, then the PL might have opened themselves up to serious litigation. Especially if it infected Everton.

Im sure we wouldnt have wanted you to turn up at goodison incase a few more players had contracted it but were in the incubation period and then passed it on to our players and staff.

Think a lot of people are pointing to this 14 available players rule but thats not feasable for the reasons mentioned above. The fact that its quite a few players at the same time (maybe staff too that isnt reported) points to an outbreak and the only correct thing to do is shut down and isolate to contain it.

Expecting transparency from the PL ? Now that certainly would be novel.

Tbh not sure why there is any surprise that the PL have shown themselves to be totally incompetent in this matter.

Agree, shambles.

Not read the whole thread but apparently according to low life Stone there has been a precedent in the Carabao Cup where Orient forfeited there game against Spuds due to Covid , he has now started the thought process for next weeks semi-final , if we do not field a team against he Rags they are so desperate for silverware you can guarantee the Rags they will try the same thing.
Standard procedure for a 'istree club that plays in red , lives do not matter , win at all costs.
Forfeit only applies up to the 4th round

If Stone and Neville are so knowlegable why dont they know the rules ? Orients forfeit happened in the 4th round...I suggest they read the rules especially 5.1.....as follows
rule 5.1 of the carabao cup if a team cannot fulfil the fixture they would forfeit the tie ,
Yet that is not set to happen for next week's semi-final, even if it cannot take place as scheduled.
EFL Cup laws state that the rule forcing clubs to withdraw from the competition if they cannot fulfil a fixture was only in place until the fourth round.
That means the semi-final will likely be rearranged if its postponed

Or maybe the fact that we are not privy to your clubs medical records, we have no idea how many players staff etc have it.

Maybe if the PL actually spoke to us today, they could have just said City have reported 5 first team players, 3 staff members and a youth player (for instance) have tested positive for Covid19, therefore we believe this is an outbreak at the club and its risks everyones safety, including Evertons players and staff, to play the game.

Your taking this as a dig against City, but its not as you dont report to us. Its more the fact that a game was called off without us knowing why.
It's obvious why, it didn't need a full blown explanation. We've have had more positive cases then the 4 we originally had. Straight away that ends the game, if the game goes ahead the risk your players, staff, the refs and the fans in attendance have of contracting covid goes up through the roof. The Premier League don't need a full blown report to Everton as to why it was postponed, the pandemic does it for them. If the mentioned parties contract covid and some possibly die cause of that game being played do they all sue the Premier League or City? Come on, it's a global pandemic not a conspiracy against Everton.

How this is getting missed by anyone is beyond me.

The fact it got to this situation is galling for the Premier League. If they're smart they shut the season down for a month or so so the UK can get on top of the outbreak you are all experiencing.

Stay safe everyone on here as well. Thinking of you all.

City hater: "But but... That's not the outcome we want though! :("
