Everton (A) | Game Postponed

The one time we have to go to London and stay in a hotel during a Tier 4 lockdown our players get infected. What about all the other teams in London like Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Fulham, Crystal Palace. Are they not all at risk of outbreaks?

The Premier League is playing with the health and lives of the football players and if they think that a points deduction is on the table due to a team having an outbreak during the worst infection rate of the virus then they might as well postpone the league again

We will not be the last team to have an outbreak, more teams will struggle and more games will be postponed. It will eventually lead to a halt of the league.

I really feel for the players and their mental health mostly as some of them will be worried sick about passing anything to their kids and family members. At a time when they could have been isolating with their families, they had to go to a Tier 4 area and get subjected to the new strain of the Virus. So they are sacrificing their health and their families health for football and I salute them for that.

But sometimes situations are uncontrollable and this is one of them. There will be more postponements of games and the league again will end in August and this time its going to be worse with the current situation. Stay safe everyone

Not specifically aimed at you but for the last time.....WE DIDN’T call the game off! The decision was taken by the PL to stop the spread of a deadly virus. If we were instructed to play, we would have!!
Has there been an official statement to that effect from the PL? (sorry if I've missed it)

Are you fucking serious, we're in the middle of a pandemic and all you're arsed about is getting players back fit, in what is a a shambles of a season that should never have gone ahead...

I don't know any city fans who don't want players back fit too.

Wise up, it's a football forum

whats the criteria for an essential worker ?
Iv worked in the NHS all through this crisis
I'm not front line but in catering
my wife however has been on ITU throughout
she has not been off once or took the piss once etc

last week before xmas
one bloke i work with who is 64 got his text to organise his vacination
and another who is 65 and works part time as already had his

yet my wife who is BAME and frontline as not
been offered her chance to have the vacination

the mind boggles
Scandalous, front line workers have to be a priority, good luck.

its hard to believe that Everton and liverpool are from the same City ! Everton fans seem so more senible ;)

Mainly because most of the RAWK, Twitter etc brigade isnt from Liverpool. We have our fair share of scouse knobs dont get me wrong, but i'd say 80% of their supporters dont come from the city.

Most of the other lot aren't from our City.

Agree

It's my understanding that in spite of the latest outbreak the premier league told us the game still had to go ahead. We then told them we feared for the health and safety of our players and officials, Everton's players and officials and everybody who would be involved in the game. The premier league, probably fearing being sued if they said it had to go ahead, reluctantly agreed to a postponement.

I think this notion of players being in a bubble, getting rigourously tested but then having to stay in a hotel where the staff arnt tested and nobody knows who they have been mixing with and where they have been is scandalous

Thats not to have a go at the staff but you would think with the amount of money in the PL, they could have one central hotel in a city to use for teams travelling, or pay for staff testing in the hotels.

Just seems crazy that this isnt taken into consideration

Say you played the game tonight then a couple of players who played tested positive in a day or two. Then its possibly transmitted to us and we could have an outbreak.

The right and correct thing to do is shut everything down and get the players and staff to self isolate for a period.
